Let's use video to reinvent education - Salman Khan

Let’s Begin…

Salman Khan talks about how and why he created the remarkable Khan Academy, a carefully structured series of educational videos offering complete curricula in math and, now, other subjects. He shows the power of interactive exercises and calls for teachers to consider flipping the traditional classroom script -- give students video lectures to watch at home and do "homework" in the classroom with the teacher available to help.

If you have taught using a flipped classroom approach, what have you liked about this? Disliked? What questions and/or suggestions do you have for others about flipping classrooms? If you are a student, what have you liked about being a student in a flipped class? What questions and/or suggestions do you have for teachers about flipping their classrooms?

In all my university classes, each student is developing an original service or product to be sim-developed and marketed. Your TED talk was inspiration for forming "infomercial" teams.

I am currently transitioning from a business career to teaching business at the high school level. I believe the flipped classroom IS the way to go; but there does not seem to be much video content in subjects like: accounting, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, etc...???

Things like math and accounting are insanely important to understand and conceptualize but what else could be included in this way of teaching and learning?

If we were talking about potatoes, not grabbing the marching train wouldn't be a disaster. But that's OUR kids we're talking about.
