We see early incarnations of feathers on dinosaur fossils, and remnants of dinosaurs in a bird’s wish bone. Carl Zimmer explores the stages of evolution and how even the reasons for feathers have evolved over millions of years.

I thought evolution is concerned with the study of what I called "biological organisation decay" , that is a specie degenerates (its genetic program gets deteriorated) with time (errors in duplicating and combining) or forced wrong use (penguin stop flying by too much diving) and 20 years later when I finished a diploma in human biology I was EXTREMELY chocked, after reading a big amount of books, to discover that evolutionists chose a "one way street" where the direction is opposed to my old assumption! They decided that species progress with time and become BETTER than previous generations, a scenario chosen without any explanation of why species have to go in that direction? which mathematical or biological knowledge forces us to take that theory and not the opposite?
One of my profs once said that humans evolved from the stage of walking on four to a better stature of walking on only two fee .

If some people are alright with thinking we were magically put here on earth as humans that's fine, however I want to search for a more in depth answer. I want us as a species to learn about our past selves and discover why and how we got here today, and to keep pushing the boundaries of what we know, and what we will hope to know.

Understanding evolution helps us to understand where our own species comes from. Starting at the first organisms and tracking how they changed over time in order to survive, we can see that once we had ancestors that change part of their physiology so that they would be better equipped to live in their environment. Organisms are constantly adapting in order to survive in an ever changing world and evolution shows us that humans are no different.
