The Israel-Palestine conflict is often cast as a long-term beef going back thousands of years, and rooted in a clash between religions. And that's not quite true. CrashCourse explains that while religion is involved, the conflict is mostly about two self-determination movements — the Jewish Zionist project and the Palestinian nationalist project — that lay claim to the same territory.

Describe each party’s nationalist vision: what do Palestinians believe? What do Israelis believe? How does the failure to understand these narratives lead to a continuation of the conflict?
