The team at periodicvideos has created a TED-Ed Lesson for every element of the periodic table. Americium is element 95 on the periodic table and we are going to hear about it from the UK's National Nuclear Laboratory (Sellafield).

Americium was discovered in 1944, but its discovery was kept secret for a whole year because it was part of the Manhattan project, which developed nuclear weapons. The discovery was first announced on a US children’s radio show in November 1945.
