The team at periodicvideos has created a TED-Ed Lesson for every element of the periodic table. This one is about oxygen - it's number 8 and is among the most "famous" of the elements.

In the 18th century, Lavoisier demonstrated that air is not an element and actually, it is composed mainly of two gases. He called the largest proportion of air azote, meaning “not for life”. This gas was then called nitrogen (it is still called Azote in French).
