The story of Anne Frank is a story that each of us can learn from. Even in moments of fear and sadness we can find laughter, love and hope. Here, author Brad Meltzer and Holocaust survivor Saul Dreier read the book “I Am Anne Frank.”

Anne Frank was a normal girl who grew up during World War Two. Anne faced racism and hatred from the Nazis because she and her family were Jewish. This hatred caused Anne and her family to have to hide from those who wanted to hurt her.

One of the most important reasons we know about Anne and her story was because Anne kept a diary of her times in the Secret Annex. Diaries are a good way to share one's inner most thoughts and allow us to tell our own story. A diary can be a book like Anne wrote in, can be letters we write to ourselves or can be done on and saved on your computer.
In Anne's diary she talks a lot about what her day was like. It was always very scary and dangerous for her and her family. As you can imagine it was often very boring, but Anne spent her time with her family, tried to keep learning and to write in her diary. She made the best she could of a terrible situation. Most importantly Anne teaches us that in the worst of times that people are truly good at heart.
Sadly there are still children living during a war and sharing their story. Using social media one young woman named Bana shared her experiences in Syria. This let us see what she was experiencing first hand. The Anne Frank House has also shared a wonderful series of videos asking "What if Anne had a video camera?" Be sure to turn on the subtitles and get a look on what life was like in the Secret Annex.
