Let’s Begin…

If we are to create inclusive learning communities as teachers, it would benefit us to better understand  Neurodiversity. Brian Kinghorn, in an empassioned talk, presents a vision for a world that doesn't just tolerate neurodivergent people, but moves towards neuroharmony: a world where neurotypical and neurodivergent people co-exist together by recognizing each others strengths and abilities.

Should a neurodivergent child's education include strategies for navigating a neurotypical world? Or, do neurotypical children need to learn how to recognize and support their neurodivergent peers?

Both. All people should learn how to live together. We should learn how to adjust to people who are very different from ourselves. Noone is in a superior or inferior position, both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals need to adjust to each other.
