Bill Nye, otherwise known as The Science Guy, inherited his father's fascination with sundials. And so he campaigned to have sundials aboard the Spirit and Opportunity Mars exploration rovers. A look at how a small device reveals big implications as to our place in space.
Why do you think the pattern of the sun looks different from Mars and Earth? Would it look different from Venus and Jupiter? Grab a piece of paper and draw what you think the pattern of the Sun would look like from Venus and Jupiter. Compare it to Mars and Earth. Can you draw any conclusions from these differences?
