Let’s Begin…

About 10,000 years ago, humans began to farm. This agricultural revolution was a turning point in our history and enabled the existence of civilization. Today, nearly 40% of our planet is farmland. Spread all over the world, these lands are the pieces to a global puzzle we’re all facing: in the future, how can we feed every member of a growing population a healthy diet? Brent Loken investigates.

Though humans are dependent on agriculture for their food production, most people know little about where their food comes from and how it’s produced. In what ways can we help people learn how their food is produced? How might this impact the future of farming?

We can by educated kids on how their food is produced better in school. It might make more kids want to or not to want to farm in the future.

if people want to know about their food, they can visiting farms or start learning about it. I think consumers need to tell about products they produced.

So i think, if these veggies and fruits can tag along with some basic details like origin of product, contains of the product, how it is cultivated, what's the benefit of consuming them, how much duration it takes to produce, how much resources(water, fertilizers, area, climate) on an average needed. I know this list is little too much, but think this - if these details has been mentioned on the tag, our next generation will be much more interested in this and more value will be created. it will be revolutionary and will bring many creative solutions for the modern faming around the globe. The kid who read this, the scientist who reads this, the engineer who reads it, the aspiring farmer who reads it... it's phenomenal, someone will get the sparks for a revolutionary ideas..

So i think this will have a huge impact on the future of farming.

Good thought.
Well as we are living in the fast paced modern world very few of us have even seen a farm land and the way the farming/agriculture has been done. We can't blame people for that and we can't go back to the olden days and do agriculture by everyone.

But, its important to know what we eat, how it has been produced, from where it has been coming, what it contains, is it good for health, is it good for the mother earth and so on .. At least a basic idea about how the veggies and fruits we consume is produced and coming from.

One way that can be done is by providing education about agriculture to young children in a fun way.
Then, sharing activities can also be carried out while practicing agricultural activities on a small scale to the community, such as urban farming systems that do not require large areas of land, such as hydroponics, aeroponics, and so on.

We can try to spread outreach of where our food comes from by spreading it on social media outputs

These days it becomes more and more difficult to make people apprehend big amount of educational information on a serious topic or create general concern around consumerization problems unless we serve the information with a huge scandal. However, humans are way more likely to interact with short clips or bright titles surrounding them. That's why I'm convinced supermarket chains should fill their stores with noticeable adverts, which would catch visitors' attention, so they'll feel the urge to read more about the production of the food they consume. The ads should be supplemented with QR codes that take you to the website which tells you all about the product, so customers don't lose interest because of the need to do research.
Educating consumers on how their food is produced may create more understanding of food's value and reduce global food waste. The decrease in waste will secure farmers from overworking and tiring the land.
I'm sure those steps will make Earth a better place.

I think that the best way to do it is to inform people on the consumer level. Every food producing company should inform consumers about the way that the food was produced by putting information about it on their product. They should write a place where the food or its ingredients were extracted, a place where it was processed and made ready for the consumption, and a way in which it was processed. That way, consumers can see not only what they are eating but also, who and how made the product possible for them to be eaten. I think that it would make exclusively positive impact on the future of farming, since these regulations will force the companies to produce food in an ecological way. I think that if this would be true, companies that grow fruits using pesticides, or forcibly accelerate the growth of animals for meat would become less popular because people would prefer organic food that was made ecologically friendly. If companies lie about the production, they should be punished.
