SH | fun phonics | how to read

Lesson created by Whitney Raser using TED-Ed's lesson creatorVideo from Kids vs Life YouTube channel

Let’s Begin…

Each letter of the alphabet makes its own unique sound, however, when you put some letters of the alphabet together they make a brand new sound! These combinations of letter are called digraphs. Today we're going to learn what happens when you put the letter "S" and "H" together! What sound do you think they will make?

Create and share a new lesson based on this one.

How do you think knowing the "SH" sound will help you as a reader and writer?

I think that by knowing the sound the "sh" makes, it will help me spell all kinds of words that contain that sound. As a reader, I will be able to quickly decode any word that contains these letters together and as I writer I will be able to extend my vocabulary to words that contain sh in the beginning, middle, or end.
