For my family, we own a lot of clothes due to buying second hand. But we also have to consider if we are using it all effectively and efficiently.
I will take note of several things
- Did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton
- I can opt to buy second hand
- Do I really need to buy new clothes and how often am I going to wear it
I am really surprised to notice that I myself own about twenty t-shirts! I should buy less clothes in the future, really!
If I go to buy next piece of clothing, I will check whether they are made of organic cotton. and try not to buy so many clothes!
I am from India. Here we consider twice before buying any clothe because we first think of our need. Secondly we use the clothes till the time it serves utility. I usually donate my branded (adidas, nike clothes etc.) to poor people and use my cotton t-shirts and cotton garments as dusting and cleaning clothes for my table. This is what I usually do and I will advise others to do the same. CAREFUL SELECTION and CAREFUL USAGE.
We have loads of clothes in each of our closet, and quite a bit of them we never wear. It's so annoying when you find those and some people just throw it away without thinking where those clothes could have gone.
My tips are getting clothes that you going to wear for a long time, and going to last. And if you outgrow those clothes, pass those down and if you can't, give the ma wash and send them to charity.
I from Vietnam. It still a devoloping country so there still poor here.
I think it is about 12 T-shirts, I will not buy anymore until one of them can't use anymore.
My family is from London, UK
We are privileged and fast fashion has become the norm in our society
We always donate or re-use old clothes. It has now become trendy to shop at 'thrift' (secondhand stores) and Depop- where people buy and sell old clothes.
My mum doesn't allow us to buy clothes unless we have good use for them
Next time I shop, I will try to buy organic cotton
Almost always my clothes are second hand clothing, my family never thows away clothing and I am proud of having a mom that since I was little teached me the value we need to give to what we have and the importance of reuse and recycle.
I guess a minimum of 200 clothings.
500
Me and my family Do not have alot of clothes however i know that in my closet i could think of a few garments that were not responsibly sourced that i didnt need to buy.
And with those garments i have now been encouraged to upcycle them or pass them down to other members of my family.
I will also think more deeply about the garment that i may be about to purchase.
I am from Egypt, even though we grow our own Egyptian cotton which is very high in quality. fast fashion brands play a huge role in how we shop. I think we need to be more aware of how our consumption habits affect the environment and start local actions
I found that I own about 20 different t-shirts. Using clothes carefully gets easier as I stop growing, but I usually use old clothes as washcloths or donate.
I do in fact have a lot of clothes I do not wear though my mom is still waiting on passing down my clothes to my younger cousin.
We overall may have more than 100 in family of four, all t-shirts not counting pants. Shocked me and I am gonna watch out what I buy and if I need it. I will even stop my family from buying too much of the cloth.
I will be more cautious and try not to over buy clothes
I have many clothes and lots of them are hand-me-downs from my older cousin. When I grow out of them I tend to use them as cloths. Sometimes me and my mum would cut them up and sew them into cushion covers or beach bags as well.
Next time I go clothes shopping I definitely will look for organic cotton garniments.
Yeah! I am from India too. We (I and my family) do the same thing. We generally give our old and short-for-us but still wearable clothes to the local sweepers for themselves and their family. Also, we use many of the old clothes that are not wearable for cleaning and dusting purposes.
My family and I have a lot of clothing items, my brother the least up to my father the most. Honestly, I know this is selfish to say, but it is a lot easier to not think about it. Will I do that? NO! But, the reality is that most of the world isn't willing to change because, as everyone knows, change is not easy, but it does take 1 person to start something!
In my family, we tend to wear out all our clothes and then either give away or donate them for reuse. Coming from a third world country, it's interesting how the practises mentioned in the lesson is almost a norm where we used clothing as rags after it's usage and air drying them. It's a way of life. But I can't deny that I've spend quite a bit of money on clothing items that just sits there. I tried to justify this buying habit because I'm buying second hand. However, lately, due to circumstances, I only have about 5-7 pairs of clothes with me and found that it's actually okay to have less, and not go through the long decision process with having many clothes. From now on, I'll be more conscious and not let my desire for new clothes win over my desire to be a part of the change. Hope everyone's doing well during this pandemic.
I think all of us have at least 20 different clothes and when we go to the store we would try to get 100% organic cotton clothes
A lot. Next time buying, following should be my considerations
1. 2nd handed is not awful
2. Laundry with proper management
3. Plannings for old clothes
4. May be better if natural fibers
My mom tells me I have too many clothes but most of them are too small for me so I will give those small clothes away and/or use them like a washing cloth or any other type of cloth.
I do have a lot of clothes but those are from when I was little and we were just waiting for the time when my little cousin was a couple months older to be able to fit into them. We have been using old clothes that we haven't donated to make masks and donate them to people who need them during this crisis. We don't really buy clothes until we grow out of them and we make sure we don't just throw everything away.
I will not count because I know I will give up! in my family my old cloths go to my younger sisters so I estimate we buy like 10 t-shirts a year but then it goes to my younger sisters!
I have way too many clothes. I will no longer take things for granted. I will think of all the human and environmental costs and how they significantly outweigh the benefit of just another t shirt.
A whole bunch. I will think about if I really need it or not or I’ll go to a second hand store
My family all together owns a lot of clothing. When I am buying new clothes, I will consider the following: where the cotton was sourced, where the shirt was made, and whether or not I really need the t-shirt.
A least 200 but we always recile them.
I actually don't have a lot of clothes, but this does cause me to wash them quite often which uses a lot of water and energy. The next time I buy clothing I will definitely try to get secondhand clothes and I'll keep in mind how often I will need to wash them.
I am really sad over my wardrobe after hearing these facts because of having too much stuff. But the videos inspired me so much that I will certainly shop second hand If I am gonna shop but most importantly I will decrease the number of online purchases and if some item goes bad I will try to fix it or if I do not wanna wear it I will donate or sell
It is nice to see you recycle but it is not a forever solution and it takes lots of energy too. you can think of donating or buying less or second hand
next time I get clothes I will buy second hand I will try to wash my clothes less
Most of my clothes are second hand because I am the youngest in the family.
Whenever I think of all the "stuff" in our modern consumerism, I never understand it. It is obvious to me that it is completely unsustainable and utterly non-sense.
Usually if I grow out of my clothes, I give them to my younger siblings or donate to charity. But if my pants are ripped, I always throw it in the trash.
After watching the video, I feel more guilty. For now, I will either reuse or sew it and give it to the poor. I will also check if my clothes are made from organic cotton and will think twice before buying a clothing. I really appreciate this lesson and will try to be a better person.
This is a great video and me and my family should really consider how much clothing we use in our house. We buy quite a lot of clothes second hand and we basically throw away clothes that are small or don’t look that nice. So our family should now use the old clothes for tablecloths or donate them.
I live by myself nowadays and I don´t have more than 50 clothing (between t-shirts, pants, shorts, coats). After watching this video I'll definetely think twice before I buy a new piece of clothing the next time.
I would feel different about my next t-shirt being bought because maybe one of my shirt are grown of me and my family might throw away or litter it in the sea.
We own a lot, but much of it has been hand-me-downs. I have started thrifting more, though I can't say the same for my family unfortunately. I will definitely think a lot more about my clothing articles now because of this.
My family has an average amount clothes. The piece of clothing that I'll buy will be checked thoroughly for it's origin and handling.
We generally buy very less amount of clothes. Women do a lot of cloth swapping and its a lot of fun. But, there is a need to be more sustainable in our choices. The next time, we need to think twice before buying something.
For the last few years I’ve urged my family to share our clothes so we buy less. I repurpose my dad’s old shirts as dresses and I share shoes with my mother. Although it’s always tempting to get new clothes, I think about whether I actually need it, or if I can use the clothes I already have to make it.
maybe try using recycled plastic clothing
i have like,... ten shirts and three pairs of pants.
Great idea 👍
I have a lot of clothing, as does the rest of my family. I've just been introduced into buying secondhand clothing, which I love (it's also CHEAPER). I also try to reuse clothing a lot, so turning old socks into bottoms for furniture and cutting up shirts for whatnot uses. I think I definitely need to keep buying organic cotton in mind more when shopping, as well as shopping less.
We don't really have a lot of clothes because we always think about the quality of what we buy but there is clearly a surplus.
Already aware of the big impact cotton (also thinking about the connection with slavery in history) and the fast fashion industry has, I mostly buy second hand and try to repair my clothes.
I won't be buying the clothes, so I'll tell my mother to buy less.
I have a lot of clothing and I will be more aware and don't buy too many clothes next time I buy clothing.
My family has a lot of clothing pieces however, we do not plan to buy anymore until needed. We also think before buying any item.
We probably have more than we need.
I don’t really know how much clothes I have, but I think I have like 20 T-shirts and I think I should buy less clothes and see if it’s organic cotton.
Well, my family members do have a lot of clothing. But we often reuse the old clothing that may be ripped up as cleaning materials. So I think we have played our part of reusing clothing,
Some members of my family have far more clothing items than others; As I am sure is the same with many other families. Generally when buying clothes, the most important questions in my mind is: How long will this last?, How long will it fit me?, and How often will I wear it?.
We think a lot before buying clothes so that's not a problem
Problem is with the school uniforms which we are forced to buy the full set when the previous set is still usable.....so we make thick a bedsheet with it ,which we use to sit on the floor....I'm out of school now but I guess buying uniforms yearly should not be a mandatory.
I will ask my dad to pick shirts of organic cotton next time. We already make cleaning clothes out of our old clothes.
I (mummy) will try and buy fewer items. I already have some second hand and organic clothes in my wardrobe. I will increase the amount of second hand and organic cotton clothes I buy for my children. I (Amber age 6) will save the planet by wearing my cousins clothes.
For me and my family, we have a lot of clothes as we haven't considered the following things much more. I will think on the following things about the next clothing;
- I will go for second hand buying.
- I will try to look for clothes made from organic cottons.
- I will buy clothes only if i feel much needy.
I will think I must use this cloth carefully. My whole family members have big closets with a lot of clothes in it.
We ( my whole family ) have a lot of clothes that are brought from H&M, UNI QLO, and et cetera. Well, I think we should buy clothes that are organic...
Well,I don't really care what I wear so I have less clothes but still a lot.
I think our family doesn't have a lot of clothing but also doesn't have too few. Maybe, it's a bit more than an average. Our family recycles clothes a lot. Cuz I have two sisters, they wear my clothes (if they are clean) when they get too small for me. Besides, I sometimes wear my mom's clothes. Though, I think if we can, it is good to restrain ourselves to buy more clothes for the Earth.
Woooow, I have never thought about it!!! There are several t-shirts in our closets because of the weather. Here, in Peru, it is hot almost the whole year. I need to be aware of that situation next time we buy a new garment, maybe think it twice before purchase.
My family has a lot of clothing, some of which we don't wear often. After watching this video, we are going to start buying second-hand, and use clothing with organic cotton. My family already donates, and we will continue doing so.
My family owns quite a lot of clothes. Next time I go to buy a piece of clothing, I would check if it's made of organic cotton. Seeing how hard people work to make clothing, next time I will question myself if I will wear every piece I buy it. Also I will donate or repurpose my clothes after I've grown out of it to avoid wasting anything.
we should create or start acting on local as well global chain to reuse, repurpose, or share/ donate our unnecessary garments.
I have quite a lot of clothing, a lot fo impulse buys and likely not sustainable. most of my clothing was bought before I did my research on sustainable clothing and educated myself on the harmful effect on both labour and the environment. the pieces I've bought more recently are from vintage stores and hand-me-downs from my mum
my parents both have relatively lavish closets, though they're both informed of sustainability in fashion and have only bought from high quality (though high price) brands.
my younger brother is likely the one that is least informed about sustainability; he's the one that insists on buying something every time he steps in a shop. he might be 14, which would cue some people to say he's just caught up in the culture, but he is old enough to make good, informed choices
I will take care of my clothes more
I admit, I have a LOT more clothing than I actually need, and it honestly really bothers me. I NEVER end up wearing most of my clothing I own before washing the rest, and some of them I haven't worn in forever, and don't even like! I'm not sure about whether I'll keep them for future generations, but I want to at least possibly donate the articles of clothing that I don't like; it could honestly give me SO much more room in my drawers!
We do, however, usually buy organic cotton, which is a pretty good thing. We also hardly ever buy items from China, along with a few other places.
in total, we have 500 underwear, pants, T-shirts, shoes, etc.
500 total things includes underwear ect
I tend to own a few cotton sweaters that I will usually wear. I will take into mind next time to make sure they are organic cotton. :)
Well in my family we rarely buy anything new since we usually can't afford it. My mom has really old clothes, she gives a portion to my older sister and a portion to me. And when my sister outgrows something it goes to me. And from me, it goes to my little cousin. And afterward, it goes to one of her little cousins. My brother mostly wears clothes my grandma got him, and my dad wears his clothes for a long time ago. I don't think I will go shopping any time soon, but it's good to know for when I'm older and on my own.
We have a bunch of clothing, I can't put a number on it but we have a lot. I think that we could definitely buy second hand more. Although I do get most of my clothing from my cousin.
About 200 pieces of clothing i will reconsider and think if i really need it
I’m not such an enthusiastic shopper, so I don’t think I have an unnecessary amount of clothes. I hardly buy clothes from fast fashion industry and I have the privilege of having a mother that knows how to sew, so we try to think a lot about which garment I want, we buy the fabric from a local store, and by the end of it, I have a beautiful and unique outfit! But after seeing this video, I’m reassured that I’m not supposed to think that I don’t have any outfits to wear, because I have the necessary and I have to be more aware of my impact on our planet.
We all buy new set of clothes whenever there is an important occasion. One acquaintance might think that we don't have something new if we won't wear a different one. However, it has come to my mind that we have a lot and we can do some ways to create a different look with the same pieces of clothes in our cabinet. Buying new would cost the environment more than our own budgets.
It is only after I watched the video that I knew about the organic cotton thing! In the next clothes I will buy (if needed) I will definitely look for the organic ones!!
I have over fifty articles of clothing in my closet. I will think about how often I do need to buy new clothes, and if I could actually just buy off-hand instead.
I have a lot of clothes. After I see this video, I decided to buy fewer in the future.
I am very lucky to live in the best country in the world, the United States of America, and my family has a substantial amount of clothing. Personally, I dont have as much as them because I am growing out of things but its all relative. It is interesting to consider how much goes in to everyday products. In the future I will focus more on buying American made goods because they are not only better, but that have a lower carbon footprint and better working conditions when produced.
I think that I do have more clothes than I wear, but many of them are hand-me-down and when a piece of clothing is no longer used in my family, we try to recycle them in any way we can. I have never really looked at the tags closely, but I do try to avoid some of the cheaper, larger clothing stores to avoid unfair labor. I will try to look more closely at the tags and avoid anything that is from other countries to try and combat pollution and unfair labor.
My family and I have a ton of clothing when I think about it. I mean, we are always buying new clothes even though we don't need them. Next time I want to buy clothing I'm going to think about buying second hand clothes or donating my old clothes and then getting new clothes.
After we've grown out of our clothes use for something else, for example cleaning rags
We have decided to no longer take T-shirts from running events.
I have quite a bit of clothing. Next time I buy an article of clothing I will pay more attention to what it is made of and where it was made.
Organic cotton isn't actually very good for the environment. It uses way too much water and doesn't produce much, so it uses even more water.
I will try and see if the product is organic or not. If so, I will see if I can buy it. If not, I might look for something else. I will also see if we can get more clothes from the second hand store. I also donate clothes to the second hand store and people I know.
I have lots of T-shirts maybe next time I will buy less.
I have a lot of clothing that I never wear for various reasons. Instead of letting these garments collect dust in my closet, I plan to start donating them. I typically sort through my clothing once every few months and donate what I no longer wear, however I am aiming to engage in this process weekly to reduce waste. The next time I buy clothes, I will ask myself whether or not I really need more clothes.
at H&M you can give them old used clothes and they recycle it and you aa discount if you give them old used clothes.
I'm actually trying my best right now to buy exclusively second hand.
We own a lot of clothes and probably some we don't use.
I will think about whether or not I really need it, whether or not it is organic.
I just cleaned out my closet so now i have less clothes, but I don't want to waste the 1% of fresh water. So, when I go to the mall next time I'm going to check these things:
-If it used organic or reused cotton.
-Maybe I'll go for second hand purchases
-And that if I buy the clothes that I get how often am I going to wear them
I will try and get organic cotton shirts and pants
A lot. I would think we would have a lot less. I would think about if I really need to buy it and if I was going to wear it that much. I will start thinking a lot about If I really need it and what chemicals where put in it.
A Vietnamese citizen.
never counted my clothes!
Normally, I try to buy really essential clothes, not out of desire. But sometimes it's quite hard to control the wish to get something new. Overall, I love minimalism which is simple and professional itself. ;) Yet I am not so much like a Fashionist, I think I need to learn how to combine clothes better which could help reduce the need of fashion consumption.
Me and my dad are more on the same side, while my mom and my sister are quite up to fashion...It is kind of hard to change people's mind... I just try to be a good role model.
This comment does not relate to the discussion. I just can't think of another way to point out that I think there is a mistake in this lesson. Question 6 in the think section. If I reduce the number of washing loads I do by 100 and each load uses 40 gallons (6 min into video) then I would save 4000 gallons per year. Not the 400 gallons that is set as the correct answer. Sorry if this is out of place here. Cheers
My family owns ALOT of clothes for sure!
Next time I will check to make sure they are made if organic cotton and definately buy less!
In my family we have a lot of clothes I will Re-use old t-shirts that I don't wear any more and make different things with it.
I own over 20 t shirts and some I don’t even use! I think I might think more about where I’m going to get my next one
I have 18 cloth the next time when I buy a cloth I will see if it is made of cotton.
I would estimate my wardrobe to hold about 20 t-shirts, which I think is plenty for my needs. I don't think at all about my clothing so in the future I will be considerate of buying only what I need.
My family and I are big supporters of second-hand clothing, and a lot of our clothing has come from second-hand stores or friends/neighbors. I do think we all have too much clothing though, so next time, I will ask myself if I really need that article of clothing, even if it is second-hand.
i use only a couple of my t-shirts, but i still have about a gazillion left in my dresser!!!! (exaggeration)
I have an alright amount of clothes and as for the next pieces I will I buy I will consider looking for organic pieces
I have about 15 t-shirts, and I rarely buy new clothes. The other members of my family have a bit more, but still not too much. In the future, I might look into organic cotton or locally produced shirts in order to decrease my carbon footprint.
i have about 49 t shirts made from cotton
We all have a lot of clothing. We'll go secondhand shopping and dry it on the clothesline.
My family buys only when we need clothes and none of my cloths are thrown away they are given to my younger cousins or my maid's children or tired in to cleaning cloths if they are in a bad condition. We only but is the or cloths are worn out of become small. We also was cloths by hand and then dried in the sun. It is a thing that my great grandparents used to do when they were financially not stable and this practice has been passed on down the generations. I used to think my parents were stingy but around four years ago I realised by doing this we are helping conserve the environment I suggest you try it to. Best of luck if you try our methods it won't be easy
I think the next item of clothing I will be paying attention to its country of origin and how and where it was manufactured have impacted the environment and the people making the item. I think good quality second-hand clothing is a great option that I will have to explore some time. Also, I will try to buy organic cotton as that seems to be better for the environment.
My family and I tend to stack up on clothes and buy a lot, my guess for my family is a couple hundreds of clothing made of cotton.
I will buy clothes which are made from organic fabrics.
use re-used clothes
I have a lot of clothing. I have been going through my clothes and donating stuff I don't wear or don't fit anymore. When I go shopping next, I'll actually think "do I need it" before buying.
I have very few pieces of clothes. I wear them until they're old, and then I wear them some more inside the house. I buy 2nd hand too- they're cheap and they sometimes look and feel better than new. My goal is to not but anything not essential for the next year.
My family has kinda a lot of clothes. we get some hand me down, but I normally get everything new, and than my sisters get my clothes, so PLUS TO BEING AN OLDER SISTER!! NEW CLOTHES!!! But I do get some second hand clothes... We have pretty much all our clothes made of 100% organic cotton.
For the next piece of clothing that I buy, I will consider if I really need it and if I di need it is it made from organic or recycled cotton.
I will think twice before buying a clothe item, I will ask myself first: Do I really need it? Might I buy this item from an environmentally responsible brand?
My family and I just started buying clothes from thrift shops! The quality is still there, cheap and much more sustainable
I used to buy a lot of clothes with fast, cheap fashion when I was in college 4-5 years ago. I grew up in a family where most of the younger kids get clothes from the older ones after they outgrow them but the clothes are still good to go several years.
I got excited with the freedom to choose to buy new outfits when studying abroad in Japan (also a country with top fashion trends). Then after I learned about the environmental impacts and saw myself actually getting rid of tons of clothes because owning so much just gave me more headache instead of joy, I slowed down on buying new and started donating and recycling instead of just dumping. Last year I bought only 5 new items and 4 secondhand because I needed them for work and outdoors activities. I try to buy clothes that are multi-purpose. This year so far I haven’t bought anything and see no needs in the near future.
My family has a vast amount of clothes. However, we do typically buy reused shirts, and if we don't we make sure to donate them when we are done using the shirts. We also tend to keep the same articles of clothing for a few years, if not more. Next time I go to buy clothes, I will remember to try to use organic or recycled cotton, I will try to use domestically made clothes, and I will try to shop second hand more often.
I have a fair number of outfits, but they are almost all ones I have either had for years, traded with my sisters, or thrifted. I only shop for new clothes maybe 3 times a year and it is typically to replace something that has finally worn out. I try to use Thredups suggested stores list to ensure I am buying sustainably and from places that fair pay their workers.
i really didn't know how clothes i had until i check my closet.Next time i will buy less clothe it think carefully about what i buy
I have about a few hundred pairs of clothing!
i own shirts
whenever my family takes a bath we where the same clothes for 2 days and I will try and make them get organic clothes
Neither my family members nor I own too many clothes. We all have capsule wardrobes, and rethink every purchase before we make it. We also try to buy locally made products (from local artisans), and often make our own clothes. This is mostly because we prefer having small, manageable amounts of things, and we are quite selective when it comes to the things we consume. While making my next purchase, I will remember to look for an organic cotton tag.
Our family does have a lot of clothing pieces ... but speaking for me my clothes are always given away to my cousins / friends as they seem to really last .... I really do wear them until it is too small or doesn’t fit.. after this lesson I will think before I shop with my parents, buy organic, and wash clothes a little less ... but I wonder if organic cotton used more water ? Will check out ...
-Buy an organic cotton clothes
-Buy a secondhand clothing
We all own many different t-shirts or other garments that serve different needs. I am sure that the next time I go shopping, I will buy t-shirts made from organic cotton and will try to wash and dry the shirts a bit less. After I have utilised them, I will donate them or reuse and recycle them.
My family and I own a lot of clothes. Some of it has been passed down but most of the clothing pieces were bought by us. The four of us probably owns around 1000 pieces of clothing altogether. One good thing that we practice in our family os that we rarely throw away any item of clothing. We recycle or donate or just pass it down.
The next time I go shopping, I will definitely think twice about being anything that I don't necessarily need. I will try and buy organic cotton and will search more about brands that have sustainable practices and those who try to reduce their carbon footprint.
next time when I will buy a size bigger so that if the cloth does shrink I can still wear it not throw it.
I will consider buying cloths organic cotton or cloths made up of recycled materials.
ill look at the price
Me and my family own a lot of clothes. next time I go to the mall or do online shopping I will consider the following.
- Is it recycled or organic cotton?
- Do I really need it
If I do I will use it as a rag when it gets old.
We all have clothing that is not too much yet, it is a lot. We buy clothes before hand that we think would fit us in the future and end up buying more. We forget about some of the clothing that we have saved from before hand.
I could think differently by:
- looking if my clothes have 100% organic cotton
- thinking if I really need the clothing
- reuse the fabric that has nothing wrong with it/ textile recycle the fabric in the right bins to be reused over and over by people who need them.
(Hasnah 12)
i have about 15 to 30 clothing items in my closet so i think the next time i buy some clothing i will try to buy an organic products
more than 360
i will definitely check if the cotton is organic and buy second hand more often
I was really suprised to see 40 t-shirts. I always complain i have nothing to wear! I have 40 outfits to put together.
Adriano (age9): For myself, I was surprised that I hate clothes shopping and I still own 20 t- shirts. In the future, my family and I will try not to buy so much clothes, opt for organic cotton and donate clothing we no long wear.
1. How much clothing do you all have? I and my family have many clothes to wear every time.
2. How will you think differently about the next piece of clothing you buy? (For all ages)
I think the next piece I will buy is fluffy and cotton type for wearing, for all ages it is cotton clothes made in china.
I guess it would be a minimum of 200 clothings. I will also think more deeply about the next piece of clothing that I would purchase.
Honestly, I don't even know how to count all of my family's t-shirts!
but the next I buy it I will be sure to buy less of them an encourage my family too
I have enough clothes in my closet. As I am a growing child, I outgrow clothes very fast. But, I don't throw them out. I either donate them or give them to my little brother.
The next time i go shopping, I will look for organically grown cotton garments and will also consider buying second hand.
I have about 20 clothes in my closet.
I'm going to choose organic cotton for my next clothes.
나의 옷장에는 20개 정도의 옷이 있습니다
다음 살 옷은 유기농 면화를 선택할 것입니다
I have about 12 shirts. I don't have a lot of dresses and those probably have more cotton and everything. My family always donates and I personally sometimes get irritated about ho many clothes you just find lying around. I am from India but I now live in the USA. The fashion here is hard to keep up with, so DON'T! It only matters how you behave, not what you wear. See, if everyone had 9 shirts, then in a typical 4 member family, it would only be 36 shirts. My mom uses old clothes as rags for spills and messes and we get pretty good use for them. This might be irrelevant but we also store plastic bags for extra use instead of throwing them away.
My family only uses organic, because of the pesticides and how its bad for you but instead of throwing things away, but my family owns a lot of clothes especially my mom, and sometimes we give away clothes but sometimes we throw it aways so maybe we could find a creative use to it.
Ugh! This makes me feel so bad; I hadn't even realized this. I have tons of t-shirts leftover from theater musicals or camps. I probably have like 35 t-shirts. Most of my clothes do go to my sister (and donated after she outgrows them), but we have such different tastes in clothes that she only wears 1/3 of my old clothes. I'm going to have to start being aware of stuff being made of organic/recycled cotton or not!
I have noticed that I have more clothes than I wear. In the future, I should buy less clothes. In addition, I will try to buy clothes made with organic cotton or second hand clothes and I will check where they were made.
In my family we don't have lot of clothes we only go to shop once or twice a year.
I'm the big cousin so I give my clothes to my cousins , sometimes we go to the church and we give the people of Caritas the clothes .
I have too many clothes that I should probably go through.
Next time I go to buy clothes I will buy clothes I know for sure I would wear.
I have almost 20 pairs of shirts and many more but i always pass my clothes to my brothers and i don't buy new one unless there is any occassion. From now onwards i will always buy clothes made from organic ones and not buy new ones unless necessary.
THANK U ALL
I own a lot of t-shirts, but in the future I am going to try buy 100% organic cotton.
We have a lot of clothing and therefore I now look at purchasing second hand or limiting my purchases.
We can keep any clothes that get too small for me and give them to my little brother to wear when he gets bigger. Fin aged 3.5
I now realise that I have a lot of unnecessary items in my wardrobe. I do not recycle, reuse or repurpose them enough. I am now conscious of how detrimental my clothing is to the environment.
Thinking about both the clothes I own and all the clothes my family owns, it seems as if we have a surplus of garments. We are always buying new clothes whether it be for Christmas or birthdays. So, in order to think differently about the next piece of clothing I buy, I will take time to consider if I truly need it rather than just want it. I will shop more often at consignment stores rather than big brand stores such as Target and will let my siblings use my clothes when I am finished with them.
I personally own plenty of clothing and fashion has been my way of expressing, however, being aware of the carbon footprint it impacts, I will think of how often I will wear the next piece and take note of materials as well as it’s practicality & longevity. I want to start purchasing second clothing as much as I can and donate.
Me and family recycle our clothes by giving them to charity and passing them onto our younger siblings or older ? We also use them for cleaning.
My family and i always try to spare clothing by either passing it down in the family or donating it or using old shirts as rags. it was really great to be able to be able to find out just how many resources go into the making of our clothes and how peoples lives are impacted during that process. I definetly will be checking if the item i choose to wear ihas been made out of 100% organic cotton
Because I gained this knowledge, I will now think twice about buying anything, and perhaps buy less clothes in general.
same but I have at least about 25 and I'm gonna see whether it is organic and not through my cloths away I'm gonna donate like my friend did
For my family, we own a fair bit of clothing, however many clothing items from my own wardrobe have been second hand from, mainly from my family passing it on to me as well as charity shops.
Next time if buying brand new, I will think differently about the source of the material and how far it has travelled.
Hi! I live in Colombia and i think that this topic is very important for our because the climate change is affectted everyone in this earth! and we can star with this small things!. I do truc with my friends and these years i've left to buy a lot of clothes.
I have a lot of t shirts but some were handed down from my older brother. when i am done with my clothing, I hand it down to someone else to prevent them to have to purchase or we will donate it somewhere.
Thinking about my closet, I have to admit I own a fair share of clothes, some of which I probably don’t need or use. However, I always try to share or swap my clothes with my sister so we can change outfits without buying so much. I also try to wear out my clothing and pass it down to my family or friends when they don’t fit me anymore as well as donate them or use them as cloth.
After watching this video, I’ll keep an eye out for organic fabrics and second-handed clothes and I’ll ask myself if I really need some new outfit before I buy it.
It's true that I have more clothes than I need. I'm influenced by the consumer society and I like following the latest trends. But having seen this video makes me think about the consequences of buying so much clothes. In the future, I will consider it better. In addition, I'll try to buy less clothes and if possible, I'll look for second-hand clothes and organic fabrics.
Have probably have around 50 items of clothing. :- (. My family probably has like the same amount as me. I will look to see if it is made of organic cotton and try not to buy so much.
We have a lot of clothing. Next time I will look into buying second hand to both be more sustainable an save some money.
When I opened my closet I was surprised to see that alone I only have 30-35 T-shirts. But I always recycle them by using them as cleaning tables and donating them in orphanages as my mom always insist me to recycle rather throwing them. Next time I will ensure I don't buy clothes even if I buy them I will definitely go for 100% organic cotton and even encourage my family o buy them.
me and my family have a lot of clothes but i don't think we will buy less clothes.
Not much but we use only needful clothing
I cant even count how many clothes we have currently or buy. i will definitely make sure the next clothing i buy will be 100% organic cotton. i don't want to ruin the earth i want it to grow i want to see forests wherever i go.
Keep things until they are no longer wearable, ie holes/ripped
Only but what’s needed
But secondhand
Give away to charity
My family of four has enought clothing to fit only a single cupboard. When our clothes starts to look old, we usually start wearing them at home. When they become really damaged and washed we usually start usinv them as rags for cleaning and other purposes around the house.
The next time i go clothes shopping i will definetly make sure to buy more clothes made of organic as well as recycled material.
I don't get a lot of cloth. Only a little bit.
I have very little clothes and the things I do have are all mostly from places that have clothes donated to them like Savers and stuff.
We have a lot of clothing but often pass them down to our younger family members. I would consider buying second-hand clothing to reduce waste.
I am 13 well actually I have a huge family and in our family we just take hand-me-downs from my older cousins so we don't waste clothes but the oldest cousins get to at least buy from
4 - 5 pairs of socks underwear and clothes for two years.
I have quite a few clothes in my cupboard, but some of them are hand-me-downs from my cousins and but others I never really wear. However, we usually donate our clothes to charity. I think anyone before buying, should consider where their clothes have come from, like where it was made and whether the people who made it for you were treated well. And also, how often you think you’ll wear it, there have been many times where I have wanted to buy a top, but then didn’t because I would have only worn it once.
I don't know how much but tons and tons of cotton things.
I think there should be less demand for lots and lots of clothes per person. Just look at cartoon characters, they wear the same things all the time! Well, I know we can't do that, but we can help by recycling clothes that are not wearable anymore .
I have been trying to reduce the amount of clothing we have in my family. So moving to basic things to reduce buying every season. Also we look for organic cotton and GOTS certification
In our family we mainly buy second hand. I find this especially useful for the children sindlce they grow so quickly. We also mend our clothes as much as possible. I have been trying to cut down my wardrobe to fewer clothes that are made of more natural materials but they arw harder to find while thrifting but I will be more on the lookout for that in the future. We also donate or resell unwanted items but I will focus more on slower consumption.
Clothing is something we all need, for sure - And i haven't got that much of a piece of cloth cause I think it's fine to not have a bunch of clothes hanging around your closets that you don't even wear regularly. But I do think each member of my family owns their own clothes, so we have a lot clothes just in one house. After following the lessons in this video, I think I'll prefer buying secondhand or orginally-made organic cotton, and saved a lot of energy like on ironing, washing, drying, etc. Definitely going to be life-long learning. Thank you!
I will try really hard to get organic cotton, but, the thing is lots of clothes that I like aren´t organic cotton. Plus it cost WAY more, and the reason i want to get more clothes is my clothes are like, kind of out of fashion/ not my style. So now I wasnt to get stylish clothes. But to me prana clothes aren´t that stylish
I have like 15 t-shirts in my closet ! But the sad thing is that may of that clothes I don't use them because they don't fit on me any more , maybe i should consider selecting all those clothes and donate or sell them.
My family has a bunch of clothes. Like, a lot. And I usually enjoy thrifting or buying from depop. But I will enlighten my family on this subject and try to get then to follow the suggestions in this video! Hopefully the carbon footprint decreases dramatically one day...
i will try to by organic and i have a lot of t shirts like sooooo many!!!!
I live in a 5 person house, and we own a meaningful quantity of clothes, specially t-shirts, but since my siblings and I were little, my mom has always either used the really worn out clothes, as cleaning rags, or we would pass on the clothes that we don't use anymore too the youngest sibling, and once it didn't fit any of us, she would give them to shelters or even our youngest cousins
My family has a countless amount of clothes. For the next time, we should consider how it produced until it came to us.
I am from India. I guess my family and closest family members may have owned approximately 500 shirts and I was surprised that if my family have owned this number of clothing then what about the world? 8 billion members !!? If we even take 10 shirts for one average person it would be 80 billion shirts and to manufacture these many shirts, it would take around 2.6^14 litres of water every year. I will try to come up with an idea to over come this problem, like creating a new kind of fiber which comes from left over plant fiber which is an agricultural waste.
We have quite a lot of clothes, many of which are is suitcases not being used at all, nowadays we use some clothes, when they wear out they go to charity and we take the ones in the suitcase.
From now on I will-
Opt for organic
Line dry clothes
Keep track of clothing usage and limit it
Considering my own closet, I don´t have a lot of clothing. And defently think twice befor buying something.
look at the label and see if its made of organic cotton
I will definitely think more about where I am getting clothing and will look into more sustainable options for buying clothes in the future.
All together my family owns somewhere around 100 ...
We are a family of 4 and im the youngest of all.
As an india,my mom usually wears a kurti or a saree...
Sarees in general are kind of a investment....as its a long piece of fabric you cant easily get rid of the old ones because of weight gain or loss....
Usually we dont go shopping clothes very often unless there is a need...
Before buying any clothes its always recommended in our family to think once or twice...
We donate clothes which don't fit anymore...
After following all these things also we end up having one or 2 clothes which we dont use often...
But yes may be after this i will try to minimize the clothing shopping
i will use my cloths less and tell my parents to hangout things out like bathing suits and towels!
nice
After watching the video I saw my closet and reflected. I too also have a lots of clothes and now I have bought them so the options I have after wearing them are
1)use it a rag
2)Give it to poor people or donate it in some charity
The next time before buying new clothes I will make sure of -
1)Buying the amount of clothes i need and not extra
2)Making sure it is from organic cotton
3)If possible buying second hand
4)Better If the clothing brand is of my country(not as important but will help the country itself)
Hope you all also do the same
Most of our clothes are second hand, since buying clothes that are too expensive wasn't practical, and when are clothes worn out we use them again for cleaning or clothes for our pets.
I’m still gonna buy clothes
We have a lot of clothing. Keep donating the ones that are to small.
between me and the other family members i am currently living with we have a lot of clothes i the next time i'm out with family buying clothes i'll pay attention to what the shirt is made out of and think twist about buying.
Next time I go shopping, I will think twice about the origins of the garment and how long the item will last me. I should be making a better effort to not invest in fast fashion and instead buying items that are more locally produced and that will last.
My family and I have a lot of clothes. We consider sharing clothing items for variety and to minimize shopping for new clothes.
I will think differently when buying a new piece by checking if its organic cotton or buy from a local thrift store.
I think overall we own a lot of clothing. Next time i buy clothing i will try buy locally sourced and organic material
I don't know how much clothes we all own. Until now, I never thought about what happened to my t-shirts till I get them. Just being *********, we damage the world which we left to other generations and it made me very sad. I will think a lot about the t-shirts I bought from today and the t-shirts I decided to throw in the trash.
We have so much clothing and I never realized how harsh the process of making even just one shirt can be. From now on I'll try my best to reduce my carbon footprint and try to use all my clotes to the fullest extent before throwing them away.
I only own about 10 t-shirts I've never been into buying lots of anything and i use the t-shirts a lot.
I have no clue, but my dad wears like three to five different pairs of everything per day and he does have a lot of clothes. I think I have the least amount of clothing, but I don't really care about clothes, so whatever. I will look for organic cotton or clothes made from recycled cloth and get it from the Salvation Army.
I own many many t-shirts. I do shop second hand, but not exclusively. Next time I go shopping I will keep in mind how vital it is to shop exclusively second hand and contribute less to global carbon emissions.
I am from Abuja and I will check for 100% cotton
I probably wont think different about each piece of clothing.
Between my mom and I, we have approximately 400 clothes, this video made me reflect about all the process that people make for us to get a shirt
Alice, Sophia and Mike said we will buy organic cotton!
I noticed that in my closet there are so many cotton cloths in my closet I am surprised to think that how much cotton seeds are used to make theses cloths. So I decided not to buy unnecessary cloths.
Since all plastic bags are prohibited due to the environmental implications, it is pretty obvious that the cotton and jute industry will start manufacturing bags as well....So I would make sure that I reuse these bags as much as I can and when they become unusable as bags, I can still use them as cleaning rags. Also, that 16,000 gallons of water taken for a year was shocking.....Now I would dry clean the clothes whenever possible as well.
A little more sets of clothes I have besides my requirements
I have almost 100 pieces of clothes, unfortunately. However, most of my clothes are gifts from my sibling who live abroad. I am planning to not buy any clothes for a long time because I have more than I need. Even on holidays, I won't buy new clothes.
wut the hell u say???
I have
I am surprised that the amount of my clothes is putting the world in danger
We will try and not over buy clothes, get from charity shop. Donate old clothes to charity to be reused.
Creo que yo también seré un poco más selectivo en cuanto a comprar solo la ropa necesaria y que sea confeccionada con materiales más amigables al medio ambiente
I don't have to much clothing since I don't care too much about it
I agree and can relate. Something that I experience living in a deserted and hot climate country is that still many individuals around me find the need to use dryers where they can hand their clothes outside saving money and electricity.
Always trying to limit the clothes I buy, and try to wear them out or if they are good enough I make sure they go to the charity shop/thrift store. Sometimes second hand, sometimes not.
for my family, we are very careful to not buy excess clothes because of the huge environmental effect. once clothes are towards the end of its use my family usually use it for rags or we try to recycle it. sometimes some of the clothes are in good conditions and haven't been used as much then we donate it.
I only live with my mom and I have just realized how many cotton clothing items I own its crazy! I also never check if the cotton was organic because before watching this video I never knew organic cotton existed! But the good thing is that I have friends that are older than me and most of them hand me down their clothes after they are small on them.
Well everyone would have 5 -6 pairs of clothing in my family we take hand me downs
We definitely have a lot of clothes that we don't need and/or wear very often but we as a family will definitely stick to buying second hand clothes
No podría decir una cantidad, pero puedo afirmar que si es más de la que se nesecita
No podría nombrar una cantidad pero definitivamente es más de la que necesitamos .
do I like this clothing and
do I need it.
I myself have about ten
We have loads of clothes in each of our closets, and quite a bit of them we never wear. It's so sad when you find those and some people just throw it away without thinking where those clothes could have gone. My parents never throw anything away, they give to the people who don't have a lot of clothes.
My family has 10 people. Yeah. But we do a lot of secondhand clothing, hand-me-downs (thank god i'm the oldest girl), turning clothing into other things (for example, cleaning rags), using the same clothes for about a week, having the same pair of shoes for a whole year (JUST one pair of shoes), so we are supporting the planet. We don't abortion to solve our problems. We're smarter than that.
In total my family have a lot of clothes maybe more than one hundred, my mom is the member that buy more clothe.
Wen I go to buy clothe I going to check that..
Is 100% cotton
If I really need
Think more than 2 times
Hi I am from india .
We have loads of clothes in each of our closet, and quite a bit of them we never wear.
We donate the clothes we don't wear or that don't fit so other people that cannot afford to buy clothes can wear them
Tips
Donate clothes You don't wear
Or use as washcloth
you can also recycle Your clothes
We don't have much clothing because we only buy what we need and we use hand me downs. Next time we go shopping:
Get organic cotton
If you have a tshirt that u don't need use it for a cloth and don't throw it out
Continue to only buy what we need and reuse hand me downs
Gaby and Reuben aged 10
I think my family has too much clothing and we can donate a lot of it.
I will think about how much clothing I already have; The environmental impact; and not throwing it away. For example, I have a small sweatshirt and I can make it into a pillow.
That is so good and you are right. CAREFUL! :)
I will think that I already have enough clothes and we must not buy too much or we give what we have to poor people
We don't really have a lot of clothes because we always think about the quality of what we buy but there is clearly a surplus.
I myself have 15 t-shirts in all. But, what I do is that I use my clothes till the time it serves utility. And then when it's old or is not fitting me anymore, I use it as a dusting cloth or donate it to poor people.
I will take organic Cotton and dresses of cotton of less price. And reuse them Untill They do not fit.
As a class we think that we have plenty of clothes.
A decir verdad tenemos muchísima ropa demás, evitaría comprar ropa en exceso, y también la marca tiene que ver, ya que existen marcas piratas que no sabemos como producen la ropa
Pienso que es demaciado y tanta agua que usa
It would be a lot of cloth for a little of people
Juan Carlos good comment good idea
I'm from India.
In my family, there are over 500 cloths.
The next time I buy clothes I would buy organic cotton clothes and fewer T-shirts.
I would also use my old clothes as cleaning cloths.
I would line dry my clothes and buy organic cotton, recycled and second hand clothes.
I think we've got an average amount of clothes each, but we basically only wear a few over and over, while the other ones are "left out". Since watching this video, we've started air-drying our laundry when we can, and we always reuse our old shirts. When I next buy clothes, I will certainly ask myself if it is REALLY necessary, then check for the environmental part of the shirt (Organic cotton, local...)
if I really needed and if is good for earth
While I do own a large number of clothes, that is only realized because of my frugal tendencies and/or my enduring emotional attachment to the softness of an overworn shirt. My buying habits would most likely remain the same but they will now include a hint of overbearing guilt that's summoned by my realization of humanity's destructive nature that is generated not by immoral actions but our intrinsic divergent existence that cheat-codes it's way past the natural laws of life. We dominate the leaderboards of an abandoned arcade game. Except we aren't as cool as Jumanji.

I have a lot of clothes in my family but a lot of our clothes are from charity shops, so we aren't just helping the earth but we're also saving money! I probably will think if it is good for the environment and whether it is a good thing to buy!
Oh, we buy a lot of clothes, especially me, because I really care about having good clothes. But, this video honestly scared me! Next time, I will make sure, I ask myself whether I really need it or not, can I get a second hand? is it recycled fabric? am I using my current clothing efficiently?
To answer the first question: I as well as my family have way too much clothing! More than necessary, that's for sure.
After learning about the life cycle of a t-shirt, I plan to avoid "fast fashion" stores that overproduce clothing, have high carbon footprints, and entice you to constantly buy new clothing given the high turnover of products from week to week. I also plan to check clothing labels in order to guarantee that the material used is sustainable.
I feel really guilty for owning so many shirts now. I've always known that clothing industry impacts the environment in a bad way, but I never knew it impacted it THIS much. I honestly have so many shirts, and as a teen who literally grows 5 centimeters a year (and getting fatter every minute BOO), I have to keep on buying more clothes, like, all the time. I think I will figure out ways to recycle my own clothes now, it's the least I can do.
I have lots of clothes
I never known that before I watch this!
To be honest, I think I own way too many clothes but nowadays I do try to shop for clothes when I really need to. Most of the time when buying clothes, I try to purchase clothes that I know I will use numerous times and that could last long. I still have clothes from 5 years ago that I still wear and if some of my clothes no longer fit, I'd offer them to my siblings
Like 3000 clothes easy and I will be think different if the clothes were at 800 dollars
Personally, for me, I own a lot of clothing and usually from cheap places where they don't really care about the quality and their environmental footprint. However, for the past year, I've been more conscious of my environmental footprint. First, never throw my clothes on the trash, I always bring them to a second-hand store or modify it so it can be more my style. Second, I really think before I buy a clothing piece, I only buy the necessary. Third, I've been interested in organic clothing or recycled clothing, however they are often too pricy. And Fourth, I only use the washing machine about once for 2 weeks.
50. Use organic cotton shirts
me myself does not have that many clothes nether does my dad and mum. But my sister is a hole different story
I will be more motivated to donate
In our closets we have a decent amount of clothes, but every year we donate what does not fit to people we know.
i probably have close to 100 items? i'm quite selective and curate my wardrobe carefully but items seem to just add up! crazy.
i only ever buy commercial/fast fashion for undies and sports clothes. otherwise i stick to charity stores and online thrifting (but accounts in my lil town only). i also always sew my clothes, and when it's time i cut them and use them for rags (if i just get over them but they're still fine then i do a lil giveaway to my friends (i used to donate, but i love connecting with my friends this way)). xx
My family and I own an extensive amount of clothes, and yet I find myself to complain often of how much more I could have. I did not think much about sustainable fashion or sustainable methods of clothing, even though I am very much into the field of Environmental Science. However, it is now that I realize the importance of not over-buying and checking clothing labels frequently. I also realized how much cotton scarves and clothes I have in my closet, and how much more mindful I am going to be after this lesson! :)
I get hand-me-down stuff from all my older cousins and then i hand them down to my younger cousins.
We have plenty of clothes for everyone, but we only buy what we need and have just enough to last a couple days, which is the time we will go without doing the laundry. Next time I buy a piece of clothing, I will really think about if I need it, and not just buy them and not wear them once I bring it home.
My family , has a lot of cloths and we always pass them down or sell to family members or give to a charity shop .
I think that next time I get clothing i will did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton and do I new need new cloths yet .
I will buy clothes that used organic cotton and donate them or use it as cleaning rags.
Also, I will think if I really have to have this cloth before I buy it.
I thought I knew enough about the impact of t-shirts manufacturing, but I didn't expect that!
To be honest, I realized that I have many t-shirts in my closet and some of them I barely touch. I definitely like to find sustainable alternatives that can reduce the carbon footprint and help labors around the world having better lives and workplaces.
We have a lot of clothing. We try to buy from consignment shops, and hang a lot of our clothes on drying racks.
we can consider if we REALLY need that shirt, before buying it.
i will just make my clothes out of trash and things that arent cotton
We have a lot of clothes. Next time we will buy clothes as they are needed.
I think we as a familly own a modest amount of clothing. While there is always room for improvement, culturally we as a family practice certain traditions like giving old clothes to cousins and turning torn clothes into rags that allows us to reduce our own ecological footprints :)
I have so many clothes! I've stopped purchasing from fast fashion for months now but I still look at my wardrobe that feels the effects of my years of shopping unsustainably
We do really have a lot of clothes. We donate our clothes every year but I think I would have to buy lesser clothes hereafter.
I am actually really proud o my family :) We have been only buying used clothes for about one year now and if we NEED new clothes we try to go for more sustainable sites!
We have quite a lot of clothes but are improving by shopping at our local charity shops recently. We also donate huge bags of old clothes whenever we grow out of them instead of throwing them out. We use ripped clothes as wash cloths to clean the house too :)
In my household, all of my family members have quite a lot of clothing, due to our love of fashion. But in my closet, most of my clothes are made of almost 100% cotton, while just a couple garments made of polyester or others.(For me, personally, polyester sort of gives me irritated skin) Once I outgrow clothing. I either donate it or use for something else!
I would say I own quite a bit of clothing, but I haven't bought any new in many months (having not grown/changed weight and especially with coronavirus I find I'm at home a lot anyway). I think my brother has the most, but overall as a family we don't tend to buy much clothing. Online shopping does make it easier and you think less about the impact, but I know as a family we always donate clothes we no longer want to keep.
I am from Kenya. There are usually many t-shirts in our country. In the future, I will try to look for organic fabric t-shirts and shop second hand . I didn't know what they do to our environment. Thanks TEDEd 😁😀😄
At home, we never throw clothing. We usually take them to a children's home and if they are in bad condition, we use them as dusters and rugs
We will choose to shop second hand.
I have a lot of t-shirts and certainly a lot of football shirts. I do like to collect football shirts based on the preference of the design/look of the shirt. If I do not like the shirt, I do not buy it. However, I probably have too many.
I have started and continued to reduce the number of times I do the washing. I am also conscious of the fact that buying new clothes is a waste of time and money and I would rather wear the same item of clothing that I already own than to buy a shirt because it's 'new fashion'.
I will definitely think more about my next purchase
I'm honestly surprised at the amount of clothing I own and don't wear, so now I need to consider good places to donate or how I could upcycle what I own! In future I'll definitely turn to second hand and sustainable companies.
I worry that I have fallen into a cycle of rapid consumerism and aim to reduce my purchases to only essential items, and say no to fast fashion. When discarding clothes, I will try to sell them or give them away as only a small proportion of clothes given to charity shops are actually sold, with many sadly ending up in landfill.
I will repulse buying any at primal stage then if will buy any then of organic cotton and after it's life end I will make sure to use it as rags and use less water and electricity by washing it trivial times and lining it often.
i have loads of clohes in my wardrobe and i wanted to buy even more but after watching this video i have realised that this thing is effecting our environment thats why we should buy limited clothes and the clothes which we don't used to wear we should give them to a charity or recycle them.
next time when i will go for shopping i will buy clothes which are made up of organic cotton.
We have a lot of clothes. We buy most second hand. We will think first before buying new again.
Wow, I never knew clothes had such a big impact! This video came as a shock to me, and I do have lots and lots of clothes that I will probably never wear again. I normally only buy when I need to, but when you see that t-shirt that just looks so cute, I would totally buy that in a snap. This video really opened my eyes to whats happening right now.
My tip is to only buy clothes when you are sure you need to. Don't splurge on that SO CUTE outfit that is just hanging there, consider the price, where it has been made, and how it has been made. By doing this you will be helping everybody.
My family and i have plenty of clothes due to the fact that we lived abroad for a couple of years. Some of our clothes only fit the environment and weather of abroad. Where i live now i pretty different so we don't get to wear most of the clothes a lot.
In the future i will make note of many things. Such as:
- Is this article of clothing made of organic or recycled cotton?
-Where did this piece of clothing originate from?
-Can i buy this second hand?
-Do i really need to buy more clothes?
-Will i really wear these a lot?
For my family, we own a lot of clothes due to buying second hand. But we also have to consider if we are using it all effectively and efficiently.
I will take note of several things
- Did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton
- I can opt to buy second hand
- Do I really need to buy new clothes and how often am I going to wear it
When I was younger I used to buy cloth compulsively. However as soon as I turned into adult, day by day I realized how important is loyal to a life style which take in consideration the essenciality and function of tht things. In the case of the clothes whatever pieces, I think having enough to formal and informal situations it would be suitable and reasonable. Know, realizing all production chain of just one clothe, how much fertilizers, pesticides are getting used to producing that good. Along with the exploitation of workforce and lower wages paid to them, make me rethink, and start immediately to reuse, reduce and recycle any cotton and other natural materials. In order to cooperate with environmental friendly practices.
We have closets and drawers full of clothes. They are overflowing. They are loved but are stored away waiting for the right occasion. We need to downsize and learn to let go of our hoard. The next time we buy clothes, we have to be mindful of the environmental impact of each item of clothing and consider the resources needed for their upkeep.
I think as a family we own too many items of clothing so we should probably buy less and what we do buy, should be made from organic cotton and preferably second hand. I should also be sure that I'm going to wear the clothes rather than just wasting them.
Eva B - We are a family of five, with 3 sisters. We all have worn hand-me-downs and donate clothes that no longer fit. When we buy new clothes, we don't pick things that fit tightly and we tend to buy pieces that don't go out of style.
SHOP SECOND HAND!!
*Did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton
I don't think I have a lot of t-shirts, but I sure don't use them all, it's certainly a problem.
One of my cousins has a Swap market in our community, so I think that's a good alternative to give clothing a second chance.
no sabia quela ropa antes era tan difficil de hacer ! . Bueno ahora ya sabemos como pero ahora es mas difficil pero es mejor usar ropa organica hasta yo podria usarla
I think buy when i really need clothes
Luckily, we have a very stingy father. Our family choose to buy second hand clothes. I believe this will help in lessening our carbon footprints.
My family owns a lot of clothes, especially my mother. I usually wear her hand me downs.
Personally in my household, my parents have a lot of extra T-Shirts that they have kept over the years because they are not growing and still fit into them. I have less T-Shirts, but still a decent amount. From now on, I could go to more clothing stores with clothes that have already been donated.
We will be sure and look carefully at clothing before we buy. Although we buy very little of anything, we are now more aware of buying sustainable clothing when needed.
I will consider all the important factors when buying new clothes but also reflect on whether I need more clothes or not. I will check if the materials of the piece I'm considering are optimal for the environment or not and investigate if the company/establishment is giving the appropriate conditions and payments for the workers.
I don't know how much clothes i have but i have million's ,but the next time i go shopping i will see if i will buy something different to the clothes i have now .
We do have a lot of clothes we don't particularly need
My clothes account for half of my wardrobe!
We have a lot of clothes in the closet, but what we usually do with those which are not in use anymore is that we donate them to charities or we give them away to people who have less and for those who would like to have them.
I would like to consider the following next time I buy and/or clothes:
- How long will I be using it and how necessary is it
- Is it organic?
- We have a lot of "ukay ukay" in our country where you can buy second hand stuff especially clothes so I might visit some when I need new clothes
- I have to reuse, especially if the clothes are still clean after use
- I don't iron much nowadays, so less ironing maybe
- limiting washing clothes to once a week at most
same situation
In our family we have a lot of clothes that sometimes we do not use and that could serve other people for the next time they want to buy clothes, I will think before buying if I use it and how harmful its components are to the world.
we have a lot of clothing i will take notes about them!!!
I would say I have about an average amount of clothing. I will start being more wearing about the clothing I buy and recycle/reuse many old clothes. I don't wash my clothes often which is good
I own about a good amount of clothes.Donating and helping charities is what I do regularly however,It is great to contribute to others.
Calculations must be made buying any clothing items. How much is the need , what will be the impact etc etc.
I will do more research about the materials, production, factory conditions, and wages of the company (if I'm buying new clothes)! I want to support companies that use organic cotton, too!
We have several pieces of clothing, and we try not to throw them out, and if we do, we give it to people or use it as a rag. Next time I go buy clothes, I'll try thrifting, getting second-hand items, look for organic cotton and see where that piece of clothing was made from.
Me and my family own numerous pieces of clothing. The next time I buy any piece of clothing I'll consider if it is actually needed and what type of fabric it's made of and how that one piece of clothing can affect the planet in the future.
I am attempting to be more mindful of what clothing I buy and where it comes from. I own around 20 shirts, so no need to get any more. They are well worn and I typically buy from Etsy or secondhand providers, but a few I have received as gifts and therefore are new. I am slowly trying to downsize my wardrobe, but taking into consideration that the items of clothing I choose to discard are not thrown away. Typically my younger siblings will take them or I will pass them on to my neighbours. I definitely own pieces of fast fashion and I am trying to reduce my consumption of such items. I recognise my privilege and I am trying to stay away from fast fashion as I realise I have other resources. I also recognise that some people have limited resources and must turn to fast fashion as a necessity. By limiting my consumption hopefully I, and others who choose to do the same, will gradually start to reduce the global desire for fast fashion!
i do have a lot, but whenever it gets too small for me, i donate it to the needy, because it is in a good shape.
I think that buying secondhand is definitely something that needs to be thought about and acted upon. My parents always if I'm truly going to wear something if they buy it for me. Otherwise, it's a waste of money and resources.
i am having nearly 15 t-shirts and next time when i go to a shop to purchase i will think and try to decrease shirt buying and use natural cotton
There are lots of clothing in my closet and my family closets. I will think about the affection of the toxin to human by making cottons so I will buy the organic cotton clothing.
I have 21 shirts and 13 pants along with 5 pairs of jeans and 13 pairs of socks, that I think is less and I also donate after wearing.
that's very well true
I will use clothes for different use
Buy clothes having low cadmium percentage
Try to reduce my purchase
Go for organic clothing & control purchase of clothes
before buying any clothes, i will check if it is made of organic cotton and i will not buy any clothes that i think that i will not wear.I will also not buy new clothes unless mine is unwearable
I use lesser clothes shopping & also working for the reuse the clothes after use for a long time.
Hopefully I will be able to reduce the bad effects of excessive amount of harmful things causing due to over shopping.
My family and I have a bunch of clothes that we don't need. My mother sometimes brings in more clothes that are from other families. Once our clothes are too small for us, we throw them into the recycling field. We buy clothes and other things from the second-hand store because it's cheap. I will keep on buying clothes from the second-hand store.
From today instead of using dryer I will put my cloth in sunlight to dry
I am from Alaska, and generally, in my region, there aren't very many clothing stores anyways so the smallest carbon footprint we have is to buy secondhand (Which we are all okay with). The best I can do currently is to watch which material it's made out of and research the brands I buy to assure I'm buying the most environmentally friendly clothes that I can.
My siblings usually use the clothes that I have used before and I use my elder siblings clothes. We reuse the clothes for the sizes which do not fit and otherwise we use them as cleaning rags. The next time I buy clothes, I will think about whether they are made of organic cotton or not, I will also think about whether I really need the clothes, and I will try my best to purchase second hand or even third hand clothes
It's kind of crazy how my family household has 6 closets, 5 drawers, and ome other places to put our shoes.
We have loads of clothing. I will choose my clothes carefully and choose clothes from organic and recycled fabrics, in the next piece of clothing that I buy
I try my best not to buy new clothes unless I absolutely need to- but my family consistently buy me clothes for my birthday/holidays, and it's difficult to explain this without them interpreting it as me being ungrateful : /
Our family loves fashion so we use a lot of money in our clothes. But after I watched this video, I regretted for all the money I used for my clothes. Also I think if I need to buy more clothes, I would think if I'm going to wear it often and check for 100% organic cotton.
It's really bad to see the world growing for fast fashion industry. The clothes that are made for fast fashion industry has polluted the world was instead of making beautiful. I really purchase clothes occasionally and try to reuse the old clothes for cleaning purpose in my house. I would really ask the question to myself before buying any clothes or going for second handed clothes.
we all have lots of room and lots of clothes since we go shopping a lot.
Mine:13 shirts
Younger Sister:16 shirts
Dad's:17 shirts
Mom:40
Older Sister:10
I will think differently by checking the tags to see if they're made out of 100 percent cotton.
i live in Nepal😜 so mostly every thing has came for another country(●'◡'●)(^///^) and a lot of pollution my family has a lot of unnecessary clothes so now ill make sure that😊i will only buy the organic cotton and since i dont use washing machine washing clothes still take alot of water so i ll try to make myclothes less dirtierq(≧▽≦q)
I have more than a hundred clothes, I'll buy the organic cloths.
My family owns a lot of clothing items. We usually buy clothes 2-3 times a year or when we are in need of them. However, we mostly hand wash and line dry our clothes, and our clothes last us several years. I still wear clothes that i bought 6-7 years ago. When they get old, I use them as my home clothes/nightwear. The fancy clothing items or those that are small in size are kept for donating to the needy.
Ever since I went to college, I started buying more clothes out of "want" instead of "need". But now I have become more conscious of what I buy. I am not buying anything unless I actually need it. This year I have tried to control my impulses and have only bought 2 sets of clothes that I actually needed.
My family and I have a lot of clothes, we do give shirts and clothing items that don't fit us anymore to charity, and we also use tattered clothes as cleaning rags. This matter makes me feel conflicted as I love fashion, but also think that change comes from the individual person. I live in a country where luxury items are considered the norm. I will try to cut down on my spending and only buy organic cotton and locally produced clothing.
In my closet and in my fellow mates there would be more than 50 t- shirts l think we should be very concerned while buying because this is really somebody's sweat and somebody's pain.
I'm brazilian....and here in Brazil the people are always shopping news clothes... but there some stores that sale clothes of secondhand...I often buy of secondhand, are clothes in perfect way and cheaps... my family don't usually to buy clothes with frequency... in fact ... it's rarely!
We can buy second hand clothing and make sure that it is made of 100% organic Cotton
Good idea!
I will think about organic, pesticide-free cotton or even recycled cotton along with efficient Clothes cleaning methods. I will even research cotton alternatives used for clothing and discuss with others.
My family owned a lot of clothes because our family has 5 people.
I will try to buy less clothes and I will think about if I used cotton.
Our family doesn't have a lot of clothing because we already mostly buy second hand, but next time we go shopping I will look for organic cotton shirts and we will go to our local thrift store.
Me and my family do have a lot of clothes. But the next time I buy clothes am make sure its good quality.
We have almost 1000 clothes. I wouldn't bye a clothing because I have enough
We have many articles of clothing. I have never thought about the environmental impact of these items. When my clothes get too small or too worn out I will most definitely be looking for sustainable clothes, like buying things made of organic fibers and shopping at second-hand stores.
I'm just looking down at my t-shirt and i'm feeling sad.
I will think do i need this or do i want this
I still have many items I don't use that frequently. I do donate with some frequency but not as much as I buy them. It's hard to buy in a sustainable matter when the items from China or Bangladesh are so much cheaper.
My family has a lot of clothing. I usually buy clothes only when I'm in need of them, and the next time I purchase one, I'll make sure to check whether it's organic cotton. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind borrowing or using some of the old clothes of my brother since we have the same physique and taste in fashion and trend. If I also have clothes that no longer fit me, I could opt to use them as cleaning rags for furniture, or I could donate them to the impoverished members of our society.
I am still an university student, so I don't buy more clothing. However, in my own closet, there are a deal great of T-shirt which I was given by my relatives, from some activities I partook. Some ways I deal with these clothing are using until them old and recycle them!
We own a lot of clothes; I will try to shop for organic cotton clothing.
We have a lot if clothes in my family. My mum still has baby clothes. I usually give mine to my youngest sister.
I use to have much more clothing until recently I got rid of most of my wardrobe. I gave my clothes to a relative but have no idea what really happened to them. Next time I go shopping I will definitely be more aware of what my clothes are made of.
We have a lot of clothes and i just think about what will fit next.
Probably more than needed. Yes, you must think about the impact on the Earth, laborers, and the money for the clothing.
I will donate many t shirts and reduce the number that i buy.
My family owns a lot of clothes. I will think about if it used organic cotton next time I buy clothes.
In my family, we really have a lot of clothes in total. I think the lack of knowledge on how these clothes actually affect our environment is one of the main reasons why. Fast fashion is everywhere. Most brands don't even care anymore as long as it will be 'profitable'. I'll make sure the next time I buy clothes, it won't be from fast fashion but from brands who really care about clothes not just profits. People should stop supporting fast fashion. If they still will, they're basically supporting the abuse of factory workers who are overworked with minimum wage.
Out of everyone in my family, I think we have enough clothes for now, until me or my brother grows out of our current clothes. When getting my next piece of clothing, I would probably consider whether I really need it or not.
I'm from India and here we think twice before buying anything , I ask myself that do I really need it or can i still work if I do not buy that particular piece of clothing. The cotton T-shirts are used for cleaning and dusting purposes and the branded ones are given to the poor people. So we should really think before we buy another piece of clothing because more the number of clothes in your closet more harm you cause to the environment.
I would be reconsidering my choices of buying clothes almost everyday and maybe even redesign my “outdated” clothes.
I would rethink my decision on buying unnecessary clothes.
I have a good amount of clothing in my closet. Some are hand-me-downs, others are things I went out to buy for myself as a little reward. Other things are things I'm preparing to donate or reuse. This is a common topic in my house (the types of clothes we buy) but I never expected it to be this severe.
Henry (9 years old): My family buys a lot of clothes, but I pass them onto my younger brothers. After use, we donate our clothing. We also don't use our dryer that much.
I think when I buy more clothes I will reflect more on how much I will use that item. (And not buy something I will only use once).
way to much. hand down clothes
I BUY CLOTHING OF GOOD CUALITY
I barely used 20 t-shirts but my closet is full and as for my family I wouldn’t count because I will give up in the count.
if I go to buy the next piece of clothing, I will check on the organic cotton, try to use the sunlight for the dryer, and probably not buying too much at the same time.
My family and I have a lot of clothes. When they don't fit us anymore or we don't want it, we hand them down to my family back home in Europe. Our family back home dry their clothes outside so I will think of that next time.
👍good
I tend to shop a lot, so I will cut down on it. But when I do shop, I will look for organically grown cotton clothes, or clothes at thrift stores.
According to all known laws
of aviation,
there is no way a bee
should be able to fly.
Its wings are too small to get
its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway
because bees don't care
what humans think is impossible.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Ooh, black and yellow!
Let's shake it up a little.
Barry! Breakfast is ready!
Ooming!
Hang on a second.
Hello?
- Barry?
- Adam?
- Oan you believe this is happening?
- I can't. I'll pick you up.
Looking sharp.
Use the stairs. Your father
paid good money for those.
Sorry. I'm excited.
Here's the graduate.
We're very proud of you, son.
A perfect report card, all B's.
Very proud.
Ma! I got a thing going here.
- You got lint on your fuzz.
- Ow! That's me!
- Wave to us! We'll be in row 118,000.
- Bye!
Barry, I told you,
stop flying i
In my family, we own a hunk of clothes but some of them we never wear...
If my family was to combine all our clothes I'm sure we would have over 1000 clothes. I will think differently about he next piece of clothing I decide to buy, by just checking the tag and seeing if it's renewable.
I buy too many clothes
Tom (aged 12) Try and buy second hand when you can. Look out for organic cotton. Only buy clothes if you actually need them: look out for ethical shops and local manufacturers.
i do own a lot of cloths. i'll try to buy less from now. and my mom recycles my t-shirts by turning them into table mats.
Wow, clothing is the second most polluting source in the world? I am definitely going to check twice on a T-shirt before I buy it.
My family and I, have a lot of clothes. But part of out clothes is Thrifted. I'm going to consider buying less clothes.
My family is very mindful while purchasing clothes, we try to consider every important aspect and make sustainable choices. We have made the decision of not using dryers. There is not much we need to change in our way of thinking about this topic.
We all have many tshirts with us, too many to count. However, these have been with us for years since we dont buy that often. Next time , while buying new clothes, I will make sure they are made of cotton grown organically and whether I will use it for a long time and still be able to donate it to the needy once I have outgrown it.
we have loads of clothes because we used to buy them carelessly. Now I will make sure to think twice before buying valuable clothing.
Hi everybody!!!
Well in my case, I have only necessary clothes, I mean only 7 shirts for example.
The next time that I need to replace my clothe, I will buy something with a deep consciences (organic cotton, for example).
See you around!
we all have about probably 200 or more peers of clothes each I will think about the fabric next time I buy clothes.
We have many clother but don't use everything, because the preferences of the trend fashion lead us to buy more, in the next time if i buy i think in the environment.
I have a lot of clothes but I have to consider that the earlier one is torn off or not before buying another one.
Hello we are an encore group from NY and we decided that to help the environment we should decide if we need the clothing or not, then buy it.
I´m actually starting a new "company" with my team is called @yonopasodemoda pls follow us! we are trying to help out Earth against fast fashion.
I only buy a few clothes per year, decorate the ones that bored me and sell/donate the ones I don´t want
for my family we own so many clothes, when i am buying clothes
1. i need or not
2. how often i will use
3. and quality
I have more that 40 shirts, without counting the rest of my blouses, sweaters, pants, etc. I loved shopping, but it's been a couple of years since I realized that a lot of the stores I frequented are part of the fast fashion industry, with poor quality and un-sustainable materials. Now I am very careful with the items I buy, I need to be sure that I completely like and feel confortable in that specific piece and that I will really be using it. It's also important to buy good quality clothes that would last you quite a long time, preventing you from buying more and more items.
My closet and my family member's closets all have a lot of clothes. When we grow out of our clothes we donate them to people who need it. The next piece of clothing I'll probably buy will probably be second-handed after I watched this video.
Maybe we have more than 800 cloths. From now on I would like to use cloths made by organic cotton and recycle them.
We have a lot of clothing. Next time I buy clothing I will try to buy second hand more, and clothing recycled from plastic.
About 300 ítems of clothing.
And the next time I buy a piece of clothing I will look at what material it’s made of and the country will also try to donate the clothes that I no longer use
in my family we have a lot of second-hand and new clothes.
I have about 100 pairs of clothes I own how I will think of my next piece of clothing I buy is by the material.
As clothes are essential for us. We have to consider buying clothes for our needs. So yeah, my family member has different taste and mindset of using different clothes. I and my brothers buy clothes based on the trend whereas my parents usually buy clothes based on their needs for it.
I will try to get clothes that are organic and also I will try to re-use clothes that are not dirty and do not smell. I also will try to buy fewer clothes and sell clothes I don't need.
suprised
For my family, we own a lot of clothes due to buying second hand. But we also have to consider if we are using it all effectively and efficiently.
I share a closet with my little sister, and it's been ages since we last went clothes shopping. We are always sure to either reuse or donate old clothes, unless they've been damaged beyond repair. In the future I will definitely buy organic clothes!
I am trying to buy t-shirts from a companies which are producing their t-shirts from %100 recyclable materials and consuming less water like WWF.
I own a lot of T-shirts,but after going through this article I really felt proud that we are already taking a lot of steps discussed in various videos.
As in India most of the people prefer line dry instead of using machine drying.
*We at our home always donate our unused clothes to poor people.
*Few of the clothes (Not in a condition to donate) is used for dusting and wiping in household.
*We never Iron few cloth articles such as T-Shirts and Jeans,as after drying directly fold them and put in the almirah.
but Henceforth,I will also think more deeply about the garment that I am going to purchase as it will have a impact on our beautiful planet and on lives of hundred of farmers and their well being.
Well mine and my family's clothes combined is a lot but the next time I go shopping for clothing I will try to remember to check if there is clothes that had been made from recycled cotton and I will also try to use less water we wash.
Our family has many clothes, but we try to limit what we buy until we feel that there is an article that is essential. I haven't bought clothes for a long time, hence, I try to use the same clothes for the same seasons with creativity to make sure I use all of my clothing articles. Our family also donates clothes we don't need a lot, but we also try to fix clothes by sewing them up with patches to continuously use them.
My family has a lot of clothes and now I will try to buy clothes made from organic materials and donate other clothes to make up for the fact that I didn't purchase any clothes made from organic material. I will also limit buying too many clothes and just do it if necessary, restricting myself to only companies that support the cause.
I own quite a lot of clothing. For shirts, i counted like 25! And that's not including the shirts that are stored/put away. I think in my household, we own like, maybe 90+? Including the stored clothes, I want to say, like 200+. Since i only own cotton clothing, I'll check if it's organic cotton; before buying it.
Since I was a little kid due to financial circumstances we bought our cloths second hand. I never had a problem with it and it seemed like a good idea and still does because we continue to do do. We pass a lot of our cloths to our relatives in need or when we grow out of it to younger siblings or family members.
600
i have few categories of clothing in my closet, such as t shirts including singlets- for leisure and indoor, office wear, events, sports wear, etc. i am very choosy on the clothes i am going to buy due to budget and preferred choices. i will minimize the event dress by renting them instead of buying. i will continue to wear those shirts in my closet the best i can until they are worn out. If i want to discard them, i will donate them to aboriginals for clothes which are still wearable or transform them into rags
I am a teen that lives in the US. I personally don't shop a lot, but I found that my family has a lot of clothes that they rarely wear. I think I'll try to donate my clothes to places where other people can get them, and will try to convince my family to do the same.
I think it's a great idea to rent clothes that you're rarely going to wear instead of buying them.
I have alot of clothings, but we usually donate them after we no longer need them.
My family has a lot of clothes. Like a lot. When our clothes get too small or unable to wear, we usually gather up all the clothes, put them into a garbage bag and drive over to a bin where you but your clothes in and it gives your old clothes to less fortunate people. I like to go shopping, but after listening to this, I think I'll definitely try second-hand clothing stores and think twice before buying an article of clothing that I might not need.
Our family has about 300-400 pieces of clothing. We will think about if we actually need the next time we buy.
I have ALOT of clothing and I won't buy anything that I don't need and I will turn my old clothes into cleaning rags or ill use them for art project or if they are too small for me I will donate them.
We have enought clothing to dress without washing for approximadetly 2-3 weeks, for season, but we buy clothes every 2 years and after that we donate them.
la verdad tengo demasiada ropa y la mayoria no la uso, pero ya no dejare las cosas asi, voy a regalar la ropa que no este usando y seguire comprando menos ropa.
I used to buy lots of T-shirts, but now I give up that habit and take up a new one, which is cleaning my closet, then donate my old clothes for those who are in need of them. My mother and my brothers buy clothes a lot, I am trying to persuade them not to buy that much because they cannot wear them all.
Now whenever I have to buy new clothes, I will keep in mind that I should buy those which are from organic cotton. But lately, I have been buying second hand and they are also as good as the new ones.
I will definitely be visiting charity shops more often, in order to decrease my carbon footprint. I will also consider how much organic cotton is used to make the clothing
bruh!
I am only 11 so I bye clothes mostly every year because I am growing but my parents my Mom byes clothes all the time my Dad byes clothes when his old ones are broken.
We have an average amount of clothing but I would like to look for the organic tag on my clothes to know that they wouldn't be grown with pesticides I can shop at charity shops and should recycle old t-shirts
I have over a thousands of clothes I will think different by trying to use my clothes right in probably give them away if I don't need them any more.I will also try to stop getting harmful thing by by the wrong t-shirts
I am really surprised to notice that I myself own about twenty t-shirts! I should buy less clothes in the future, really!
If I go to buy next piece of clothing, I will check whether they are made of organic cotton. and try not to buy so many clothes!
average, and yeah, I will probably think of going to goodwill or something instead.
To tell you openly, I like fashion and I love dresses. I'm very often to buy the clothes in the shopping centers or via online shops. I haven't know that the clothing make enormous effect on the world pollution. This lesson makes me educate about my behaviors can affect on the world. I know much better now than before.
I have quite a lot of clothes. But now I'm really thinking, do I need these clothes? We have a lot of clothes that are too small for me or my sisters, so in the near future I am going to give these clothes to the orphanage. And about buying new clothes ... I don't think I need new clothes (at least for now). I can borrow most of the clothes from my older sisters or from second hand. And the purchase of new clothes should be done only when it is absolutely necessary)
My family and I have a big amount of clothes. It`s a piece of cake for us to buy unnecessary clothes because it`s on special offer and others. But we don`t throw away our clothes , we give it away to other people for instance to my cousins or to the church
All members of my family have a huge variety of clothes. My mum, sister and me are keen on clothes, but sometimes we don’t even have time to wear them. However, all our things have second life. My family didn’t throw it away. Mum always gives items to people who needs them. After this video I changed my mind and now I’m thinking about the love to clothes differently. Before buying a thing, I’ll think about whether I need it or I can live without it.
Next time until the last piece of my clothes remains , I won't buy any clothes except second hand clothes. Also my family members and I use our clothes .
hello, I am from Kazakhstan . my mom buys me clothes only when I and my siblings grow them up or for special occasions. I think if we will buy fewer clothes we can save our world
Hi, I am India
Here we generally have 30-40 pairs at least
If I were the person to guild the house then I would have decreased the no. of pairs that would be brought each time and would give my old clothing to someone worthy of it
I have lots of clothes, with about 30, so I will try to buy fewer clothes next time.
I am from Germany. As Christmas is coming, I am thinking about what I want to have for this year's. The first thing I came up with is clothing. But do I really need any more? The problem is that we don't truly realize how many clothes we actually have. We all have our own perspective on this. For example, my mother is convinced that I have enough sweaters, while I am somehow not satisfied with my wardrobe. But why? I do have the privilege to have something warm and clean and perfectly fine to wear every day. However, at my high school there are groups of students wich seriously judge you for your outfit. And I don't care about popularity, but friendships student have built in middle school are ending because of a style, while new friendships, fake friendships I believe, emerge. This just puts such a high pressure on my generation, including me. I will start buying second hand clothing or sustainable clothing. The clothes I buy now should be an investment and be worn for a lifetime.
I have about 19 shirts and 7 sweaters. When I buy my next piece of clothing I will check to make sure it is organic cotton.
- Did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton
- I can opt to buy second hand
- Do I really need to buy new clothes and how often am I going to wear it
ok
I find out that we own a moderate amount of clothes in my family. We rarely buy secondhand clothes since such shops are not so popular in our place. But we usually pass on clothes from the old to the young. In my family, we share some clothes.e.g, I wear some shirts of my brother that don't fit him any longer. We have the practice of sharing our clothes to the ones who are in need. So, in our closets, there are just fewer clothes than we actually bought. We don't like to buy clothings excessively. After watching this video, I've learnt some considerations of how to buy the most suitable clothes which cause as little harm to the environment as possible.
Efficient and less harming clothes
2 cabinet
We don't have much clothing except my younger sister's. I prefer minimalism and my daddy loves second hand. We usually donate if we don't use or not fit.
A couple of closets full for three members of the family and that is.
Would go out shopping for clothes only when it is necessary, considering we have enough already.
Check what types of materials/fabrics beforehand.
From where i live, we usually practice donations for old clothes, enough to pass around for probably generations.
I have about a hundred clothes. I usually don't like to wear secondhand clothes but right now, I have to think of it again. I will tend to use them carefully and buy them from bales.
My family always donate our clothes which helps the effective of the environment impact and many people who get our clothes. We should wear second hand as possible as we can.
I didn't think much about clothes and the production of that too, but after I watched this lesson I made up my mind that I have to think at least twice before I buy clothes. We should recycle the clothes ,donate them ,instead of buying trendy clothes decorate them or donate .
Even though we rarely take account of the clothing we have, I guess our family has relatively smaller number of clothes than other families for we always have to think twice before buying an item. Next time, before buying the next piece of clothing
-I will reconsider whether I really need it since one piece of clothing takes up so much resources
-will check whether it uses organic cotton or not
-would rather buy a second hand for sustainability
I have never been thinking that the facbric can make the global impact. After the lesson, I got really shock.
For the future, I will keep in mind and spread the idea of fabric impact.
As a marine electrical engineer, I saw a lot of rugs on ships that are packed into bails with fabric pieces. In the early days, seafarers look forward the rug bails with good clothes and wears it. But now we don't see good clothes, just small pieces. After we use the rugs, we incinerate it or dispose to the land.
For the future, I will reduce the need of clothes for me and for my environment.
As a teen, I own around 10 shirts or more, and in my fast-growing stage, I will need to buy more. Next time, I will consider buying fewer clothes, fewer season clothes, and maybe make my shirts into bed
In our family, we use the local products and every year we donate them. We are rarely to buy clothes but we wear the clothes that we got as a present. As for me I don't like second hand. Wearing second hand can transmit the bad smell or other skin problems of first used owner although it was cleaned.
We have loads of clothes in each of our closets. But if there is a clothes that isn't fit or tear, we donate to the poor people who really need. And also we decided not to buy many clothes and to wear our old clothes until they are small for us.
My family have a habit of donating clothes to poor people and to orphanage every year. In my closet, there is no more space to add a single T-shirt. Also there are many clothes that I haven’t even wore yet. From now on, whenever I go to buy clothes, I will reconsider whether it is really necessary to buy or not. I will also reuse my worn-out clothes as cleaning rags.☺️
There must be consideration if you buy new clothes
I don't really know how much clothes I have, so I don't count my clothes.
May be over 1000 clothing. We will consider shopping secondhand and try to do Donate, Recycle or Reuse our clothing.
After checking our family closet, I highly suprised that we have lots of T-shirts. In the future, we should reduce buying lots of T-shirts and recycle or reuse them to save the environment in a way I can afford.
I don't know how much clothing me and my family have, but I know I'll definitely be more aware.
I'm proud of myself because I don't own a lot of T-shirt.T-shirt what I own can be counted 3 or 4 only. Most of my closet what I have are made of cotton. However, in my family , my younger sister own a lot of closets including T-shirts.I always remaind her not not buy clothes what she doesn't neeed. It 's upset that she never listen to me.
Hello everyone.I'm come from Myanmar. Firstly ,I'm buying ZT-shirt.Here we consider twice before buying any clothe because we first think of our need.
Seriously, branded?
You really must be rich my friend. Good for you! :))
We all have more clothing than we probably need. It is better for the enivironment to buy second hand or just donate clothes that we don't wear.
Our family has very much clothes because my mom is accustomed to buy closets for ours. But I never think how to make a t-shirt or what kinds of cotton was it used. In future, I will share this life cycle of clothes and what are the impacts about it to my mom and I will warn myself not to buy much clothes. I'll choose to wear t_shirts made up of organic cotton.
we have lots of clothes but a few things that we do and that I think makes difference...
my younger sis takes some of my clothes
we use old clothes as dusting cloths
please help the environment
Well fashion is the second-largest polluter after oil that fact surprises me.
Let's stop wearing clothes!
I have about 20 T Shirts. We used to hand wash all the clothes and line dry. The eco-system of a T Shirt is quite alarming and we should consider twice before we buy a new T shirt - do we really need?
Honestly...we have quite a lot. Some of our clothing just sits in the closet, barely even gets worn.
Now that I've learned what I've learned, I'm going to buy clothing less often, and read the labels that use to be meaningless to me.
yah
Our family members have a lot of clothing. When we have more clothes, we donate some clothes to the homeless. Sometimes we use some old t-shirt to clean the dust.
We all have a lot of clothing and I think that I will look at the labels before I buy anymore clothing.
We have a lot of clothing in each closet. I will try not to shop from business who support fast fashion.
it was 600 so im close
Wow! That is so sad. I mean, I didn't know that that much cotton and t-shirt making could do so much damage! I am soooooo going to start paying more attention to my clothing choices! 100% Organic Cotton!
For my family, we own a lot of clothes due to buying second hand. But we also have to consider if we are using it all effectively and efficiently.
I will take note of several things
- Did it use organic cotton or recycled cotton
- I can opt to buy second hand
- Do I really need to buy new clothes and how often am I going to wear it
I think it is a waste to buy new clothing as i grow bigger when i grow older. I feel wastage to buy new clothing. Buying clothing at second hand shops would be better.
I'm just thinking of doing laundry with both machine and hands should be done to save our Earth green and safe.
Probably, total might be 600 for whole family. So, better do laundry with both machine and hands to save our Earth green.
We only own few because every now and then we give it to other children especially if my daughters seldomly uses their clothes . Next time we have to recycle old clothes to make new ones.
For me, i bought a lot of clothes before . But now i prefer minimalist life style.
I am from Turkey. Actually throughout my life I usually use 2nd Hand clothes but When I need to buy a new clothes like a jacket or something. I just look for its usage and price that's all. I don't care the fashion but I realize that I need to care how it is made.
I have no idea how much clothes my family has combined, but I know it is a lot! The reason being that we are able to have access to fast fashion as it is the easiest way to buy and consume "cheap" clothing items. However, doing outside research and watching this video has made me more aware of the affects of fast fashion involving the concerns of the environment as well as how the ethics behind it. Now when I buy, I will be more aware of this issue and take it into heavy consideration and try my best to shop sustainably.
I have 54 items in my closet, T-shirts, long sleeves, tank tops, and long skirts. Because of the pandemic, me and my family haven’t been able to buy as many clothes, so we have been saving fabric. My mom is good at sewing, so she used some old t-shirts and other old fabric pieces to make masks.
My life changed after I watched BBCs' documentary on Fashions dirty secrets after that I started buying less clothes and brought nature friendly
The problem is finding a brand providing sustainable clothing
MAKE CLOTHES OUT OF DIFFERENT MATERIALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
In my family, we all have a lot of clothes. Lately, I have been purchasing more clothes from thrift stores, however, when I realized just how big of an impact fast fashion has on our planet
Kareena (age 12):- My family is from KL, Malaysia. We own quite a lot of clothes due to buying clothes every Chinese New Year. Some of our clothes are bought second hand but most of it are first hands. We have only a few fully cotton t-shirts. The rest are made from cloth. Normally, we do let our clothes dry by itself. We use the dryer sparingly.
Below are a few suggestions that I thought of after watching the video
- When buying new cotton t-shirts, check for 100% organic.
- Use clothes as much as you can. After that you can recycle it/ give it to the poor.
- Buy more second hand/ pre-loved stuff.
- Go shopping monthly/ after 6 months/ when you grow out of old clothes NOT weekly/ daily.
I hope I can reduce the carbon footprints so that the world is a better place for both you and me to live in.
Kareena(age 12):- IPC Recycling & Buy-Back Centre.
This is where me and my family go to recycle old clothing. Please note that this place is in KL, Malaysia.
We own a lot of clothes but some of them are second-handed by family members and once in a year we would go through our clothes and donate or reuse. There are still a lot of clothes remain. So I will be thinking to give out more and buy less.
i will for now on will try my best to buy cotton cloth. and when I'm done with the cloths that do not fit me i will recycle or reuse them as a rag.
Hi
I now realise that there's a lot of pollution because of me buying clothes
I should reduce the amount of clothes I buy
I have 10 T-shirts. After watching this video clip, I got the knowledge about how dangerous the fashion is. So, I decided that not to use money to buy new clothing and instead of buying new clothes , I am going to reuse my old cloth.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPP
I have an okay amount of clothes, but something that my family does it we donate all the clothes that don't fit us :) I never knew a simple T-shirt could do this much damage to our earth!
I might have a bit too many clothes, but when my clothes don't fit me and my family often donates the clothes. I never knew a simple T-shirt could do so much damage to our earth!
Dyeing them adds around 0.004 kilograms of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere per wear. A T-shirt can use up to 120 liters of water per wear, and contributes 0.01 kilogram of carbon dioxide per wear, just from dyeing alone.
In our family we have few clothes . We did not really prioritized the garments. We recyled the old clothes as soon as it can be use.
my family and i really have a lot of clothes on our own but after watching this video, i decided to buy what i rally need and i will reduce buying the clothes and i will indeed opt for organic or recycled cotton.
Take into consideration what you have before you buy more.
My family owns a lot of clothes. More recently, I’ve been a conscious shopper and have been buying secondhand or at sustainable stores. However, for the next piece of clothing I buy, I will make sure it is organically produced.
It's true that my family also owns a lot of clothing in total. However, we make sure they are not sitting there in the wardrobe. If they do, we donate the ones which are suitable for the people in need.
Actually, I stopped buying the unnecessary clothes long time ago after knowing about negative impacts of fashion. And I do upcycling for some items to give new life and new vibe.
We all should consider "upcycling, reusing, reducing, and buying at thrift store for giving second life to clothing". Most importantly, we have to love what we have.
Thank you.
I will focus on donating my used clothes to my local Salvation Army and thrift stores to make things better for our world and environment. I want to start looking at the tags of my clothes and see what country they were made in and I want my family to do these too.
I myself don't have a WHOLE bunch of clothing but my parents do. I don't think most of their clothes use cotton so I think we are able to buy more clothes at the same rate.
For my family, My family owns a lots of clothing products and designer things. We have 284 clothes that we all own. But one of the clothes are made of a material.
The material was a yarn and the person who created it knitted the outfit.
So I was inspired and I started knitting a little bit of clothes.
I can mostly make my own clothes when I have the right materials to make it.
I used to think of repairing colthes and shopping second-hand as something a little appaling, like I didn't have to and shouldn't do it if I had the recources to buy new clothes. But as the propagation of sustainability grows, I'm realising the foolishness of such prejudice and I actually feel a little guilty when I buy a piece of clothing from a fast fashion brand. I search for local and ethical brands and love shopping second-hand. Simply an example of propagation of sustainability being worth it! :-)
for my family we buy clothes when we need it like I might have 20 pairs of clothes which I think is enough
I will take note
Is it on my size
Is it clean
Is it worth it
We mainly shop at stores such as goodwill so that we reuse clothing instead of buying all new, but I think since there are now 5 people living in my house we own a lot of clothes. Some we don't always wear, especially now with the quarantine we are living through
We have a ton of clothes in our closets. Myself, in particular, have way too many clothes. I currently by the majority of my clothes second hand but I will definitely be thinking deeper about the fact if I truly need it.
I have a lot of clothing and honestly for my next piece of clothing it's based off looks of it for me lmao
My family does own many clothes. With that being said my mom and I especially have the highest amounts but the majority being second hand from family members of even each other. We do tend to also buy lots of clothing so this video opened my eyes to the affects it has and I will definitely be more aware in the future.
We have a a lot of clothing combined all together and i personally will think differently about the next piece of clothing i buy.
Unfortunately we do have a lot of clothing, however, we do donate old clothing or use them as cleaning rags.
Between all 3 of us in my house hold, we own a lot of clothing. I will take note on the carbon footprint that it takes.
We have alot of clothing, but next time I will be more cautious when purchasing clothes.
we have way to much clothing ad now after watching this video it made me sad to see all the madness we have caused. Next time i will be more cautin of what i buy, wash and how i teat my clths
I actually have a lot of clothing. Some I keep incase Ill ever need it in the future. The next time I decide to buy clothing, Ill ask myself if I really need it that badly.
we have alot of clothes put togetherand i will try to use the dryer less and actually let em air dry.
I have tons of clothes but I do recycle and buy second hand clothes.
My family members and I have a lot of clothes. I will think differently by being more careful about how much laundry I do and using my clothes as much as possible. I already donate my clothes when I am done with them but I will definitely start shopping second hand more often.
I have never considered the environmental impact of fashion and have always just purchased clothes as I see fit. Even now I have a closet full of clothes that I never wear. My only saving grace from this is that when I have gone months/years without wearing something I do donate it.
After seeing this video I will consider Need over Want.
I admit I have the most clothes out of my parents and me. But listening to this video made me realize I should be more careful the next time I buy clothing.
next time i will see if its organic cotton
Compared to most people I don't really own that much clothing and I often will wear things until there's holes in them. I will use the clothes after they can't be worn any longer and use them as rags for cleaning instead of just throwing them out to buy a new one.
My family and I have tons of clothing and I will think different when going shopping for clothes
My family and I probably have a lot of clothes together. Next time I buy clothes I can see if it is organic cotton and buy second hand clothes.
My family and I have many clothes and next time I proceed to get clothes I will think more in depth if it is really needed or not.
We don't have a lot just enough to have two weeks of clothes. I probably start thrifting like I always wanted to find already used clothing instead of buying brand new ones.
Unlike most people in my life i don't have a lot of clothes, and theres a lot of clothes I could donate and it wouldn't hurt me at all. I will think differently next time I acually buy clothes.
I think I have a lot of clothes but as of recently even before watching this video I have been trying to find and buy second hand clothes. Most of the time when I don't use items of clothing I do donate/recycle them. I will think differently by being more aware and considerate with how much laundry I do.
I have quite a bit of clothes so next time I go shopping I will be sure to think if I really need it or not.
Just thinking about it, I probably have too many clothes and I know the same goes for my family. I will definitely take into consideration and think about if I really need those new clothes.
We have a lot of clothes considering that my mom likes to buy clothes. We reuse or donate the clothes that don't fit or don't want to people in Mexico. When I go to a clothing store I will do my best to not get them dirty so they won't have to be washed every time I wear them and I will reuse any ripped clothing.
my family and I have quite a bit of clothes and some of them are handed down, next time I'll check what its made of.
We have lots of clothing, from presents to just online shopping, even passed down. Maybe when I buy clothes I will try thrift stores and possibly reuse clothes that still look new. I will think more into, will I really wear this or will anyone i know want it.
I own quite a bot of shirts that I dont even wear, I enjoy fast fashion but I didnt know the cost of it to world. I always donate my old clothing though.
We own possibly hundreds of clothing items, we often give away a lot of it at times, yet my family always wants to continue to buy more. Now, I will be more careful and considerate when buying clothing, only getting what I need.
Many of the clothes in my family's possession are unused so every couple of months, we take all the clothes we don't use and donate them to family, goodwill, savers, etc.
I usually buy second hand clothing and I should definitely consider the amount of cotton usage that happen in my household.
I would say we have a lot but we reuse it but we could make more changes like thrifting.
Not that much, and honestly ill sadly probably forget about this video in ten minutes because I have the memory of a goldfish.
I don't strangely like going shopping and my mother usually buy the clothes for me. Before buying a new one, I usually think that is this a necessary one for me or not? Besides, I have a younger sister and so, she can wear mine as a second hand. Sometimes, I donate these clothes.
I will make sure it is organic cotton. when I am done with the clothing item I will donate it.
we have an ok amount of clothing it won't influence me too much
I have a lot of clothes and tons I dont wear this video made me realize how the amount of unused clothes is unnecessary and its always best to donate them so they products and time used to make the shirt does not go to waste.
We have a lot combined, next time I'll take into consideration the material and production process.
the closet if full. I will value the hard work it takes to get cotten.
All together we have a pretty average amount of clothes. With the next clothes I get I will be sure to do things like buy them second hand and make sure I get the most use out of them before getting rid of them.
Between my whole family there is a lot of clothes. Most of my clothes as well as my siblings comes from second hand stores. It does make me think about whether I really NEED all of the clothes I have.
I would consider the amount of clothes I own to be a lot but I also give my clothes a good lifespan and then I donate them to charity. I also try to shop in thrift shops more than fast fashion outlets because of the damage fast fashion causes. Next time I will consider if the clothes used organic or recycled cotton. And if I really need to buy the clothes
It is ok to wear used clothes as long as you wash them
We have a average amount of clothing, we have tons of old clothes that don’t fit me and we donate them to younger children. This is what will change my shopping decision. Whether it is recycled or not. And if it can last long, or it’s durability.
My family doesn't own a lot considering how there are only two children in the family. Also, many of my clothes are too small for me, so my sister gets them. We donate some clothes that are in good condition to other people and reuse the ones that are torn.
I will start buying less tshirts... And of course the first thing i will check is that is made of organic cotton and try to buy just one or two in three months! I should re use many of my clothes.
i have l lot of clothes. and mom and dad have a lot as well.
Guilhem (6yrs) : I have many t-shirts. Next time, I will tell my mama not to buy t-shirt for me. When it is necessary, I remind her to buy organic cotton.
I have a lot of clothes and I need to slow down on buying clothes
we have like at least 400 clothing items in our household i will think about how much money we will save on water bill ifi dont have that shirt to wash
next time i will think to buy natural cotton to reduce the chances of cancer
We normally pass it on to other relatives instead of it ending in the landfill.
-My siblings can pass down the clothes to me
-We can reuse them as craft pieces and towels
-On the other hand, we could send them to goodwill for other children to wear
I think my family has 1000 peices of clothing. The next peice of clothing I buy I will make sure it isn't harming the enviroment.
I myself surprised about how many t-shirts I have ,I was thinking that this is a huge amount of wasted water, I think next time I will think of trying second hand and the uses of water and energy
i have no idea how much cloth i have.
I would say I have about 20 total outfits maybe a little more. Next time I shop for clothes I'll look for recycled clothing.
i have the most because i am the biggest and i pass down all my stuff and i have to buy more because i can not get passed down to any one else
I have a lot of clothing because i'm constantly trying to change my style but it never really crosses my mind that I can donate my clothes or reuse them. I never really knew how much chemicals and harsh products are put into the clothes that are on my back. So whenever I want to get rid of a shirt I will either donate or reuse it another way.
I've been wearing second hand clothes for the last 6 years. It is so good to be offered beautifull and confortable clothes!... I also love to go to a second hand shop and find the most incredible models (completely new, sometimes) and set my trend!
When I decide for something, then, I start dreaming: what does the person that was wearing these clothes look like? Where was she living? How was her life like?... Having new clothes is a moment of pleasure, especially, knowing that I am contributing for a better planet!
We all have too much. I wont think differently because not buying clothes wont influence the operations of the clothing industry. Ill get what fits.
I have quite a lot actually. I never really indulged into the process of the t-shirts, and when I did, I was REALLY surprised that process was quite long. I will think about this each year and will focus on the process and don't buy much clothing!
I own lots of clothes and should probably stop buying them. My family usually wears clothing from organic cotton.
I have quite a lot actually. I never really indulged into the process of the t-shirts, and when I did, I was REALLY surprised that process was quite long. I will think about this each year and will focus on the process and don't buy much clothing!
For my family, we own fewer clothes as we have some budget for this year.
I will think of some things like
# is this fabric is an organic fibre?
# weather it lasts for long enough years so that I can donate when it becomes small for me.
# do I really wanna buy new clothes because I wear the same and repeated ones all over the week.
Looking at my own (and my family's) closet, I realize everytime that I own way too many clothes, most of which I only wear on rare occasions. That is why I am increasingly trying to donate my clothes or sell them at second-hand shops. Plus, I rarely buy new clothes recently and only when I really need that item. I also make exceptions when I really like a piece of garment and when it has a deeper value for me.
There are so many clothes in our closets next time while going shopping I will look for recyclable and organic cotton clothes.
Combined in total we do own a lot of clothes. Next time I go out and buy a piece of clothing, I’m going to be self aware about what’s truly going on in the clothing type of industry in how they are made and the factors that come with it rather than just merely buying it and moving on with my day.
I think my family and I have a lot of clothes. I will make sure the next piece of clothing I get is eco-friendly before I get it.
I haven’t been buying clothes second hand but I’m going to need to change that after watching this video.
Most of my t-shirts were given to me for free at events. and most of my other garments are hand-me-downs. but my mother on the other hand loves to shop and loves fashion so her closet is probably 30 times the size of mine :(
I will probably do my best to decrease my own consumption of clothing but i'd rather not get into a big argument with my mother on this. Boomers are a different breed, from a different era.
im starting to make my own clothes
The amount of clothing we all have is probably an insane amount. The next time I want to buy a new piece of clothing I will stop and think and resure myself that I already have enough clothing.
Many. Buy only if necessary. We can only have the essentials, like 1 jeans, a bag, a coat.
i usually try to take care of it, and my clothes are mostly passed down from my brother or dad
i have not a lot of clothes but i dp think that my sisters have many clothes and i think im going to buy clothes in like a month or so
to choose my clothing carefully and take care of them
I dont have a lot of clothing, I will buy clothes when I needed
I will take care of my clothes and don't buy a lot of it just when is necesary
we have a lot of clothes, because I would think that the next garment that I buy try how much it can affect me and also how necessary and how much use I would give it
I'm actually trying my best right now to buy exclusively second hand. And I will be more cautious and try not to over buy clothes
im surprised of how much processes they need to to to make a t-shirt now i´ll think about chosing an organic ones
I will be more cautious and try not to over buy clothes
- A lot, but on the other hand, I'm going to see if the clothes are made of organic material, that the clothes last a long time, that it is second hand, etc.
In my family, we own a very big amount of clothes and I am the only one that uses all of them. We never buy second hand but a lot of clothes are of bio materials. We should use more the clothes and be more concient about the impact of it when we are buying more clothes and thinking if we really need those clothes.
We have a lot of clothes, now i'm going to think more if i really need that clothes.
My family has a lot of clothing pieces however, we do not plan to buy anymore until needed. We also think before buying any item.
My family has a lot of clothing pieces however, we do not plan to buy anymore until needed. We also think before buying any item.
I have too much clothing...
We have a lot of clothes, but what we do is reuse or re-give them to my younger siblings, I will think things better, and see what material the garment is made of.
We have a lot of clothes and i should buy less. And if i go to buy a new clothe i would buy a clothe that is made of organic cotton
like 250 or like that and yes we going to buy best clothing
We have enough clothes and the next time I buy a garment I will see that it does not contaminate so much
Do not buy a lot of clothes, so many t-shirts, tennis shoes, pants, etc.
I will buy the same clothes because idk what happens to the world i want to look good haha
we buy lots of good quality cloths but since there is a lot of us and we are still growing there is lots of cloths and next time i go shopping for cloths i will think to buy the best cloths and ones that are very big so i can wear for a while
my family tries to reduce this problem and passes down clothes
in ours closet all my family expts me have a lot a lot of clothes that they dont need and other much that they dont use but me have a little of clothes and i use all then i dont want to change my form of buy clothes
I now understood from this video that we are have many clothes in out closets.
And now I am going to do the following:
If a t-shirt is torn, I will -
- Recycle
- Donate
- Or use it as a cleaning rag.
I haven't bought any new clothes this year. But I will consider to buy as few as possible. I will only buy new clothes when I need them for some special occasion. I will try to re-use them even when they can't be used any more
i uses my cotton t-shirts and cotton garments as dusting and cleaning clothes for my table and my floor
i will donate some of my clothes
We own many clothes. Some of them are from year 2000 or something. In the future we should buy clothes from a second hand shop and/or buy less clothes.
All together we have around 300 clothes. We often buy second hand and when my clothes get too small for me we donate them or sell them on a flea market. We'll keep in mind how much just one single t-shirt affects the environment and the climate. So we'll try to buy clothes which are made of organic cotton and upcycle old clothes.
Next time I will check to make sure they are made if organic cotton and definately buy less. My family owns a lot of clothes for sure
I will try and get organic cotton shirts and pants. :)
My family buy a lat of clothes second hand, and we donate to stores
We probably have a bit too much but we are not reckless and keep it for long periods of time and use them a lot. We will try to buy organic cotton from now on.
In general I think we do have a lot of clothing as a family that are probably not all organic or second hand but after we have grown out of something then we always recycle them and donate them to prevent waste
my family owns a LOT OF CLOTHING
i will think if i am really going to wear it
I think I might try looking at the labels in regards to the type of cotton used and what material its made out of and consider it when buying new clothes.
We have about 30 clothes per member and from next time I will buy new clothes when absolutely needed
I used to buy clothes often because it was cheap and fashionable, but I think as I get older and think about the impact of fast fashion, I think twice before purchasing clothing items, thinking , " Is this something i REALLY need??"
my family and myself have a lot of clothes. looking through my closet i can see i do not wear all of the clothes i have. the next time i buy a piece of clothing i have to make sure i will 100% wear it.
i think i have about 30 shirts. now i will look for organic shirts
We all have 10-20 pieces of clothes each. Some are second hand and some are not. Some are cotton and some are not. We will try to buy 100% organic cotton hereafter. We donate clothes when we are not fit into and were them until they become unwearable buy adjusting. From childhood we have the habit of sharing are wearing that save money and environment.
I will think more about throwing away old clothes and finding new uses for them or selling them on. I will consider buying secondhand.
buy less clothes as i have enough and if i am try and buy second hand also try and repurpose clothes i no longer
I am going to be more conscious when purchasing - do I really need it? I am going to be more considerate if purchasing from fast fashion business. And have more family discussions about it with my family.
Maybe if you add all the clothes in my house, there are about 200 clothes. I will try to but organic cotton next time
My family and I have clothes in a considerable quantity, I feel that it is not too much but it is not too little, however, I admit that before this lesson I did not ask myself where my clothes came from or if they damaged the environment, I only cared about the price, however, what I have always done has been that when clothes no longer fit me or I no longer wish to continue using them as gifts so that other people can take advantage of them, in addition, from now on, every time I buy clothes I will do so with the relevant recommendations.
My Family: 4 people
Estimated Average Amount:
5 hoddies: 20
2 pairs of jeans: 8
10 shirts: 40
20 Undergarments: 100
So the total could be around, 188 to 200 pieces of clothing without footwear, accessories, etc.
Next Steps: Using them effectively and efficiently
- Donate old clothes ( We do that )
- Using them as cleaning rags or another items ( We do that )
- Try to use second hand clothing
I have a lot of clothes I will think of the clothes if the are organic cotton or recycled cotton. I would keep in mind of if I really need to buy more clothes.
We own a lot of clothing. I have a big family too. We will definitely think more for the next piece of clothing that we buy. Will ask myself if I really need it, and what type of cotton got used.
I will try clothes that I am going to wear for a long time, and are going to last. And if you outgrow those clothes, pass those down and if you can't, give them a wash and send them to charity.
I can't even count how many clothing we have. All I can say is we have a lot of clothes.
What we can do:
- Try to get second hand clothing
- Find more recyclable clothes, or all organic cotton
What we already do:
- Donate our old clothes
- Using the clothes as rags or other things
me and my family have a good amount of clothing. The next piece of clothing, I will buy will be reused cotton and 100%organic cotton.
Surely, I think my whole family might have from 100 to 300 pieces of clothing, and I guess maybe even more than that. For my next piece of clothing, I will think mainly if it is 100% ORGANIC cotton. I think that's really important now, but before, I didn't know why organic cotton was this important. I should opt for more second-hand clothes, though I usually try to wear some of my mom's old clothes, cousins' old clothes, etc., more than wanting to wear new clothes. Including that, I will try to give my clothes to others, something I do once in a while.
My family usually takes into account two factors. If we have enough clothes and where it came from. The first point often is the most important though. However, now that I know this, we will start to look more into where it came from and organic cotton.
That is very smart! I love that idea!
I was surprised to see how many tee shirts I actually have! I have about 30! I need to buy less clothing in the future! I need to look and see if I actually need to buy any more clothing.
same here
in my house, we must have over hundreds of pieces of clothing. the next time i buy clothes, I will think of all of the hard labor, carbon emmison, pain, and pollution this has caused to make.
how can i know which of my clothes is organic and harming?
In my house we all have a lot of clothing and then just multiply that by 4 and you will have a lot of clothing. I will look into buying a lot of 100% cotton next time.
My family really doesn't have many clothes, we are mostly boys besides my mom. But when we grow out of them it goes down to the next kid. When the littlest kid grows out of the clothes then we donate it to goodwill or something. This really wont change my mind about buying clothes but it will make be think.
We have a medium amount of clothes and now that I see that we should be mindful of this problem and help solve it.
My family has a lot of clothes, because we buy a lot of it second-hand, most of the time, but I've noticed some of my clothing wasn't quite so organic, and that I didn't really need to buy, though my family normally buys clothes that last for a long time, so we don't really need to go shopping that often. I have definetely been made more aware of my clothing from this lesson, so I will try to buy more organic clothing.
I just realizes that my family own a lot of clothes, geez.
for the future, I will buy more organic cotton or recycled cotton and make a new principe "Do I really need to buy new clothes?"
I never choose second hand cloths before, maybe it's the time to change myself to opt recycled cotton.
buy second hand and also learn sewing!
For my family:
- Where did it come from?
- Was is naturally sourced?
-do we need to wash it?
About 500 bits of clothing in total for my whole family
I have about 50 pieces of clothing and next time I buy clothes I will check if it is organic
Next time I'll think if I really need a certain item
We own plenty of clothes including the clothes we're sentimental to throw or donate.
Things I need to think first before buying new clothes:
1. Do I really need it
2. Is it recycled or contain organic cotton
3. I should buy my clothes second hand, not only its way more cheaper but it could save the environment for the future generation.
Hi,
Although my family and I are guilty of buying a lot of clothes, however we never through them away, we always reuse, recycle or donate.
I feel like buying clothing regularly has been normalized, back then people wouldn't shop as much as they do
1,000,000 pieces of clothing in my whole family! The next piece of clothing will maybe be organic! The good thing was a lot of it was hand me downs or was bought at GoodWill or Second hand stores!
We own a lot of clothing, a large portion of it is second hand but from now on I will try and look for garments made out of organic cotton.
Between me and my family we own a lot of clothes. most if not all are second hand. The next time we go shoping ill pay more attention to the tags and see if i can buy any clothing made locally.
We have an average amount of clothes, but I think we will think more consciously if we will truly use the items before buying them.
I do not have much clothing right now because I throw away lots of stuff I do not like or use anymore constantly.
My family and I have lots of clothes combine enough to make a store. Next time I will look at the material the clothes are made from and consider if it's necessary.
I will think if it can be worn by a female or male so gender neutral.I can also buy second hand clothes and create new clothes to make it fit my fashion.
I don’t have as much clothes as the average person because we donate our clothes pretty often and don’t make it a habit to buy clothes often
My family owns a lot of clothes, however we always do the following with our items: line dry, recycle t-shirts as pj's or cleaning materials, donate them to people in need and pass them down between siblings.
Next time when buying clothing I will make sure to check if it is made of organic cotton.
We don't really have many clothes, mostly because we don't see the need in buying so many. This certainly reinforces that belief
I can't believe a single tiny T-shirt can cause so many problems
Over 100 pieces probably. I will think if I really need it.
I agree. While I do not buy clothes frequently, nor in large amounts, my family finds it necessary to buy clothes for any occasion.
Taking care of my clothing
I´m from Mexico, we are going to buy my next garment in a second-hand store.
My family and I have a lot of clothes,
When we go to buy a garment we go very well that we like it and then we read the sizes and then we go to another store
i think my family and me have like 200 or 250 cloths and i will buy my next clothe in second-hand store and will be of 100% cotton :D
I have a lot of clothing i've had for a long time, ill be sure that none go into the garbage, that all of it will be donated or reused.
