Composting with Peppa Pig This Earth School Quest was created by the following incredible educators and environmental experts: Jessica Espey, UNSDSN
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.
It would reduce food and plant waste from the school canteen and provide nutrient rish compost for the school garden. However, if not maintained properly it can stink and attract pests. You would need a culture of conservation in school and awareness among staff and students about the importance of composting. I beilieve it is possible if there are teachers and students passionate about the environment.
The advantages of composting would provide a lot of detritus, and could even provide fuel for a community garden. The disadvantage would be where to store it and maintaining it. This isn't possible in all schools, due to space and storage.
The advantage of making detritus in school is that it can be good fertilizer for the plants there. The bad thing is that it would also attract a lot of other animals which will probably distract the students from their school work.
I would like to start composting at my home, since I am homeschooled! ~ Harmony, age 7
This would be great and very possible in many schools! I think the advantage would be less garbage being produced by schools, but there are a few disadvantages. It would take strategic planning to make sure people compost only what can be composted, and so as much garbage can be composted as possible. This would take a lot of work, but it might even create new jobs in the school. There would need to be a system where people can deposit material to be composted conveniently, then this material can be taken to a place where it can turn into compost, and finally taken to a place where it can be used in the soil.
One disadvantage we might face while composting is that someone puts plastic in the compost bin. One advantage we might face is that it improves the soil. I think that composting is possible in all schools.
The advantages would be less waste and a more eco-friendly environment. However, the disadvantages would be a decline in sanitation. You would need a very clean environment to make this possible, which is not realistic for all schools.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment.
I think the food chain is everywhere but normally starts in plants and elements such as water sun and wind.
The greatest advantage is that the large amount of food waste produced can be turned into compost and used to support school farming and growing trees and plants.
The disadvantage I can think about is the probability of the plan going to waste without being productively used.
It doesn't seem like there could be any disadvantages from doing this. I believe it is possible in all schools. It would reduce the waste/garbage. It would help give the soil the nutrients it needs to grow plants, food, etc.
I think there are many different benefits for composting at school. The advantages are that it can feed animals that you might have a school like class pets or chickens in the yard. It is also helps save the environment and teaches kids about saving and reusing food. The only disadvantage is that over the summer when there is no school you would not be able to do compost. I think it is possible in all schools because you just need a separate bin for the compost next to the trash and recycling.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. But it can sometimes produce waste in the environment.
The positive is that you have less waste, the negative is you have to have someone to do it and bring it to the compost machine and it also attracts bugs. Trust me, I should know. My old school said that at the end of every lunch some people needed to bring all the food waste there.
It's pretty much possible in all schools and every school has already started teaching these things. therefore, a practical experiment wouldn't cost much.
It makes everyone, students and teachers, appreciate where all food originates.
Composting in schools would reduce waste produced from food scraps globally. The disadvantage to it is that it would be challenging to employ this on a large scale, but I believe it is possible if the school boards work with the government and be government with all the others in the world. To make composting mandatory in all schools, students will need to be taught about the benefits of composting, and teachers will need to kindly encore the composting as much as they can.
It would be good to compost in school because it would build compost so we can build a green planet again. A disadvantage might be limited by the use of the land owned by people. I don’t think it’s possible in all schools. Some schools only focus on learning.
A would give the best healthy Feeding, because if they plant a tree, it most grow strong, so people can eat healthy
yes it can be possible in all schools and we would need a environment which has a lot sunlight around it
One of the advantages is that it would be quite important and essential for nature and a way to give wasted food a new choice, also they can learn more about it or explore nature by composting. On the other hand, some students, as usual, will not show the proper importance of this activity, but we can little by little make them aware of how significant it is composting.
I consider that all schools are able to make this happen, as we watched in the videos, it is necessary either a bin or box, or perhaps a portion of land for making it directly.
Advantages of making composting mandatory are many.. making students aware of the benefits of composting & skilled them in making compost themselves will help to make composting popular. Students would encourage their family to make & use compost instead of chemical fertiliser. Disadvantages are that to get the required amount of biodegradable waste for making compost is difficult & for making compost out of waste would need an expert guidelines. It would be dangerous to manage composting by students alone.
Its not possible in all schools. Only those who have the necessary setup for making compost out of waste could do it.
advantage: good for climate. Disadvantage: waste
Ventajas:
Reduce el volumen
Reduce el peso
Desventajas:
Reduce el volumen
Hay una cierta probabilidad
Some of the advantages are
1. Composting reduces the use of chemicals on plants
2. If your not composting correctly it could make your plants die .
3. The biggest reason to compost is that it is environmentally friendly.
The Disadvantages are..........
1. When we compost the composting process smells bad.
2. If we do composting in schools the teachers won't have enough time to teach.
3. some people might have food poisoning in some type.

If the composing was mandatory in schools the food that they sell is gonna be more healthy but children maybe are going to get bored with time.
I think this is very good just that schools have dirt
Advantages: reduces the amount of food that is tossed in a landfill in which animals might get poisoned by the other things we throw out, we return nutrients to the environment to be used again and it is good mulch for trees, flowers and other plants. Disadvantages: It smells (some people have very sensitive noses) and not everyone cares about this kind of thing, so they won't do it.
la ventaja de una composta es que reduce el desperdicio de los alimentos y lompodemos utilizar como abono
I believe that mandatory composting alongside designated areas fro growing simple food crops would have a vast array of benefits. It would teach children and young adults about the importance of soil for agriculture and climate change and allow for practical work experience. Student could volunteer or be assigned work in the garden areas. Also, it may contribute to mental health as outdoor time has been found to boost mood. The food produced could be used in the school kitchens or given to students, teachers and parents who help to produce it. This would reduce waste, reduce CO2 and contribute to a circular food web. Initial costs would be low although many schools already lack adequate funding. Also, many schools in urban areas may lack sufficient space to set apart a designated growing area, although all should be bale to compost waste.
The advantage of composting is helping our plants and Earth. The disadvantage is other animals getting attracted to it. It depends where it is, if it is by the older kids then it's fine but not the younger ones.
An advantage of composting in schools is that their carbon footprint would decrease since composting will reduce the amount of methane the school would normally release from food waste. Additionally, all ages can learn about key concepts in biology and ecology through composting. A disadvantage of composting in schools is that someone has to maintain the compost--but this also provides an opportunity for all school members to get involved.
Composting is possible in all schools--you just need to choose a composting method that works well in the environment in which the school is situated.
The advantages of composting is that they can produce food for other organisms like, insects and other small animals as well as a source for plants. We would reduce a great deal of trash. The disadvantages are that there might end up being too much waste and it could smell and attract pests like rats, which could be dangerous. The environment would have to be spacious and have many plants in it. It would be possible in all schools if we take some new time and effort in to the picture and if you only composted a little of the waste not all or else it would get out of hand.
Advantages are that it could happen.Disadvantages are kids might not listen
If mandatory composting was in school we the kids would get tasty food than gray meat that tastes like a sponge 🧽 make compost for the earth 🌎 😀.
There would be far less contamination in garbage bins and recycling bins due to the increase in composting and the correct usage fo the three bins. On the other hand, this might also increase the waste of food as children are encouraged to compost, with a possible misunderstanding causing children to put the food they dont want to finish in the compost. That said, this might not be possible in schools where the recycling/waste program does not have facilities to compost materials.
it's advantage is that it produce detritus for food and disadvantage is that it produce waste in
environment
he advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.
Advantages of mandatory composting in schools are recycling waste and making the school more environmental-friendly. The disadvantages are that compost sites might require a large space. This might not be possible for all schools, because some schools have a small campus, and they need to use all the area for other purposes.
The main advantage I think would be waste reduction, which is great. As long as the school has enough space, I think it would be a great experience.
The advantages would be that the waste would be great food for insects and would decompose faster.
The disadvantages would be the bad smell and the attraction of other animals to the waste
This could be done in all schools if they had a large green space.
I think the advantages is the soil nutrish and the recycling of the materials as it would happen in a real ecosystem, the disadvantage may be the smell or the way composting may be done, the environtment that would be need to make this happen is an environment where every one does it correctly and in a good way, but I may say that it is possible to be done in any school, wether is small or big; is as simple as dividing waste and putting it in the soil.
Some of the advantages are: :-)
1. Composting reduces the use of chemicals on plants.
2. The biggest reason to compost is that it is environmentally friendly.
The Disadvantages are: :-(
1. When we compost the composting process smells bad.
2. If we do composting in schools the teachers won't have enough time to teach.
enhance ad empower the student to think positive environmental issues.reduces waste conserve all sorts of sources.providing opportunity for hands on learning .activity.its takes a lot of time and energy. it is stinky and ugly. Great for plants .garden, and lawns, proper space and storage place with manpower. NO,it is not possible in all school
The advantages of mandatory composting in schools are that the soils and plants will be rich in nutrients. It can also steadfastly develop a school garden. However, the disadvantage is that it may have the possibility to stink. There could also be no room for storage if this is mandatory. The mandatory composting is possible for schools that have gardens.
The advantages are that it produces detritus for different kind of animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes produce waste in our environment. We need an environment that lots of people care about.
the advantage is produces detritus for animals. I dont thing their is any disadvantages
Maybe not possible in all schools at the beginning but it's a shift that could teach kids that food should not be thrown away. Most importantly: there's a cycle of organic matter that leverages all "waste"-nature is wise and composting is some sort of circular economy where everything is used. There could be disadvantages if this resource is not well managed, but the opportunity to improve resources is grand.
the advantage would be fertilizer(compost). The disadvantage will probably the smell of it.
.
I think I should get some red worms.
The advantages are that there is more compost for animals, but the disadvantages are that there is less space in the school.
.,.?#$*)3g
The advantage of composting in schools is: we are making nature better. The disadvantages are if you have a school of 1000 people then when lunch is finished everyone will be going to the compost bin and everyone will be pushed everywhere. How to solve not getting pushed everywhere is to have more compost bins but then it will be very smelly. The type of environment that would be needed to make this happen is everyone cooperates including everyone finishing lunch at different time periods by 5mins. This is not possible in all schools because if it's really popular and there's not going to be enough time for lunch.
The advantages of mandatory composting in schools is that is would produce detritus for a variety of animals. The waste though in the environment could be seen as a con of mandatory composition in schools. The most reasonable in my opinion would be to do this in a forest environment or something similar. I do not know if this would be considered a possibility for all schools possible most.
children will learn how to deal with waste and generate less waste for the landfills.
we can make nutrient rich compost for our plants and support ecosystems.
fortnite live event in about 1 hour lessssss goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
better food but it can attract pest
good: it feeds animals
bad: produces waste
the advantages of composimg in school are that it can be used for planting in school compound, then it becomes detritus for animals. It reduces garbage or waste. But the bad thing is some insects from this composing can be harmful for students.
All the school cannot be composin for it need enough space and to notice the other side effects.
the advantage is that it could save the earth and the disadvantage is that it could take a lot of space. you need a wet ground for the worms to live. it is not possible in all schools because it might not have the space for the wastes to be put on in the school.
The advantage would be less waste of compostable material and this compost can help climate change. A disadvantage if not used correctly compost could attract unwanted pest into the school and stink.
The advantages is that our food is being sustainably broken down. By not sending it to landfills, it will break down quicker and without toxins. If not maintained properly the compost may cause problems. I think this could be possible in all schools if they truly put effort into it.
You would need an environment that is rich in the species that maintain on the detritus.
The advantages of composting include all kinds of opportunities for the school community. Aside from curriculum connections and interdisciplinary learning, composting helps to instill an environmental ethic, conserve natural resources and build school community. Disadvantages of composting at school are the smell of the waste rotting and the initial cost of investment.
The advantages would be less waste and a more eco-friendly environment. However, the disadvantages would be a decline in sanitation. We would need a very clean environment to make this possible, which is not very realistic for all schools.
The advantages of mandatory composting are better quality of the plant life in the school. It will also teach students a better behavior for life which might be perused later after school. It might not be good because it could cost the school more money than it wants or time. It is not possible in all schools as some have a higher budget and more interested students.
Some advantages of composting at school would be that it helps the environment, it allows kids to learn more on how to live a healthier way by re-using items we use every day. Some disadvantages are that it will have to take up a large amount of area in a school campus and could also attract animals.
The advantage is that we cut down on the amount we spend to get rid of these wastes and the amount of trash that is present. The disadvantages would be it be a whole mission to start composting in schools all around America. The type of environment is a school that enjoys doing these kinds of stuff and is fully involved in composting and helping out the planet. No, I do not believe this is possible to be done in all schools.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.

The greatest advantage is that the large amount of food waste produced can be turned into compost and used to support school farming and growing trees and plants. The disadvantages are that there might end up being too much waste and it could smell and attract pests like rats, which could be dangerous.
it could cause multiple unbalancements on the ecosystem
that they can make gardens at school and that they can eat from there
that money would be spent to compost and that students would take a class on that
an environment where there is soil and plants to provide compost
do not
It doesn't seem like there could be any disadvantages from doing this. I believe it is possible in all schools. It would reduce the waste/garbage. It would help give the soil the nutrients it needs to grow plants, food, etc.
A big advantage may be that it will reduce food and plant waste, but a major disadvantage may also be that it can bring in pests and bring stinky smells.
that i could make nutrients for plants, the problem it might attract other animals or even microorganism that in huge amounts it could cause a pest that can affect the health, an enviroment where students protect and conservate, i dont think so because not all countries teach the same things
can get resources of its, thats maybe are more resourses than the ambient or de food change can suport, a special place to pit all this, no
- The advantages are that they help the environment, they are more efficient, no machines are needed.
- Disadvantages, this attracts many insects and animals.
- You need a land with soil and where there are microorganisms to disintegrate the compost or waste. This may be possible in all schools with an outdoor space with soil and plants.
THE PLANTS WOULD GROW WELL.OLERIA BAD.AN ENVIRONMENT WITH SPACE AND WITH GREEN AREAS.NO.
The advantages are that it produces detritus for different kind of animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes produce waste in our environment. We need an environment that lots of people care about.
the advantage is produces detritus for animals. I dont thing their is any disadvantages
The advantage of something mandatory in schools is to take care of children under 10 years of age or minors and for me there is not a disadvantage in schools and as I said, it is what schools have to do, which is to take care , study and feed, etc.
that makes the environment with more biodiversity healthier
the advantage is the poduce detritus for te animals. The desventages is the killed anmialas and contamnation. The land and yes
Makes oxygen and environment healthier
The advantages of mandatory composting in schools are that it is a great way to reduce the waste of food scraps and converting it in a thing that helps the enviroment, I think there aren't disavantages, and to make it happen I think it could be almost all the enviroments and all schools.
The advantage of a compost is that it reduces food waste a bit and we can use it in another way.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.
The advantage is that there would be less waste in the environment but the disadvantage is that it would be hard for schools to maintain the environment as sanitation.
The advantages are the production of debris, they are taught to reduce food waste, but the disadvantages are that children are forced to do it, so they finish their project, receive their qualification and get rid of it.
The advantages is that the food does not end up in a landfield and instead it can be sold. A disadvantage may be how time consuming composting can be. We would need a warm and humid environment and this is not possible in all schools.
I can take away all the bad for the people so no one gets sick form the bad food.
The advantages would be reducing the quantity of food that we toss on to a landfill, where animals could get sick for eating something bad. As well as making more nutrients to the environment, this can be used repeatedly as it is good for the plants.
Some disadvantages would be the smell composting gives off. Also some kids might not want to compost their foods.
will be healthier for earth, it can attract pest
Making a mini garden or each student plans some plants in a cup them move into the grass.
We can have a little environment in the back with plants, bugs, and other things.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots of animals and the disadvantages is that it can sometimes produce waste in the environment.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals but it can sometimes produce waste in the environment.
the advantages of composting would provide a lot of detritus, and could even provide fuel for a community garden. The disadvantage would be where to store it and maintaining it. this isn't possible in all schools, due to space and storage.

Pros- Creates detritus that helps out worms, can remake more food, can provide material for a school garden
Cons- Have to have someone to take care of it
it's more work but with artificial chicken nuggets they decompose quickly so eat them
yew
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.
If we had mandatory composting in schools, the advantages are that it would help create more detritus for wildlife around, create good soil for planting around the school, and it would also be a good way to recycle our food into the ground. The disadvantages are that you may not be able to store it properly, which can lead to pests. I don't think it would be possible in all schools, just because of the storage issues, but if students and staff is properly educated on the matter, then it could be a possibility.
Yes this is possible in schools. We can manage waste at one place itself.Children will learn about composting and will practice same at their residence.
Composting in schools has various advantages such as generation of rich and fertile soil for community gardens. It is also a way of teaching children various environmental issues and environmental solutions. However, composting needs proper organization and management to avoid smelling and perhaps illness among school children.
The advantages that it produces detritus for lots animals. The disadvantages are that it can sometimes can produce waste in the environment. I think we should have a forest environment to compost.
The advantages of composting in schools are that the compost acts as a great soil for plants and enables them to grow and have nutrients .
This is advantageous because this will allow kids to equip composting skills at a young age which then they can bring forwards when they are older and continue to use the skills
kids learn about not to waste food and help returning food to the environment through the process. however, for these experiment, some kids might also generate more food waste from the process, hence wasting more food than before.
By making this mandatory in schools, it would allow children to be taught children from a young age about reducing their waste and the ways they can use their waste instead of shipping it off to landfills. Moreover, it provides soil to schools to start gardens and plant more trees, plus it can also be sent to community farmers. These and more benefits can be derived, with no significant disadvantages as I can see.
I am living in the countryside where schools are situated in areas near nature. So composting is possible. In fact, it's a concept that is being taught in one of the subjects in school. It's possible in many schools (although not all) in my country. The advantage of composting is that children learn the importance of 'recycling' the biodegradable waste in this manner. The disadvantage depends on where to put a composting area because it may increase pests such as flies that carry diseases.
There would be less food waste produced by the students and staff, and would create food for organisms. But, there would have to be education and awareness around it in order for people to really be invested in it.
there will be a lot of advantages, like it could feed plants in the school.
They can help plants but their smells are not good
It would be good for plants, but on the other side, it can attract rodents and animals such as racoons
The benefit is that it can reduce waste, but the disadvantage is that it needs a lot of proper maintinence
enriches soil, reduces need for chemical fertillizers
