Let’s Begin…

In 2017, Priya Vulchi and Winona Guo traveled to all 50 US states, collecting personal stories about race and intersectionality. Now they're on a mission to equip every American with the tools to understand, navigate and improve a world structured by racial division. They pair personal stories with research to reveal two fundamental gaps in our racial literacy— and how to overcome them.

It's as simple as knowing who you are around then doing some digging on the internet! If you don't know your family, friends or student backgrounds, you can ask! Make activities within school (this may be upsetting for some students - so take proper precautions to exercise mental health supports). If they don't know, they need to do some digging! Help them do that. Once you know their traditions, cultures, heritage you can Google different celebrations (Ramadan, Diwali) or memorial days (Holocaust memorial, WWI, etc.

Host a party, ask to participate, volunteer your time at a cultural event to help set up and take down chairs/tables or bring appropriate food! Try to support or be a part of it with them!
