\n Organic cotton actually has a bigger environmental footprint than normal cotton. Although it doesn\'t use pesticides, it uses a huge amount of water and other resources, and most of the plants are killed by pests. It doesn\'t help that they can\'t be genetically engineered to resist pests. Therefore, organic cotton isn\'t very resource-friendly, so an organic cotton bag requires 20,000 reuses to be more environmentally friendly than a cheap plastic bag, while regular cotton only requires 7,100 reuses. Use regular cotton for T-shirts and paper for bags.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n

\n In my opinion, these animations are great in educating and sharing knowledge, but changing the world it won\'t. And I think providing such a super naive solution to a deeply real and complex problem does more harm than good. If enough of us get hyped by organic cotton stuff, corporations will probably reduce the use of fertilizers, but at the expense of laborers\' already miserable lives. The far more effective thing would be to announce the names of these super exploitative companies and call out a boycott against them. But such things we daren\'t do, so we are gonna do these ineffective little things to make ourselves feel better. Let\'s face the truth and save the impractical optimism.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n
