For all the basics about curium, check out the Visual Elements Periodic Table.
For amazing photos and facts about curium, check out The Elements by Theodore Gray.
It is said that the symbol Cm was chosen for curium as “m” was Marie Curie’s first initial. However, no other letter from Marie Curie's name could have been used in the element's symbol, since they were already designated to other elements or units: Cu is assigned to copper, Cr to chromium, and Ci is a unit of radioactivity.
